The place itself was beautiful, and I enjoyed the stay. What made it awful was feeling judged and singled out by staff and other guests because of our race. People pointed at my wife and me and assumed we were smoking weed. I had seen someone smoking a cigarette on the balcony below us, so I opened our large window and stayed there until we left for our date. Before we went, I got a call about a smoking complaint, without them even saying what kind of smoke. We didn't try smoking in the room after that. I rolled up and took it outside by the fireplace, where cameras should be able to see me. Everyone was giving us nasty looks, like it was slavery times. It was disrespectful, and it felt like people judged us by our appearance even though I can afford an expensive hotel. I'm in a union. After we left, my wife was charged $250 for smoking fees and whatever else, and they kept our deposit too. That makes no sense to me. If they need to charge me for something, they should take it from the deposit or my bank account. I understood the drinks and other things they offered, but anything else should have come out of the deposit. I felt very disrespected, and I want some of that extra money back. If there's a next time, I'll park in a lot instead of using their parking so I can smoke, and I'll say when I leave that I'm going to my car to smoke weed. If they smell anything, it'll be on my clothes. I'm NOT SMOKING IN THE ROOM 💯. I'm leaving this post here for future reference. If we feel picked on or antagonized because of our race, there will be problems. And finding a blunt doesn't automatically mean I smoked in the room. Otherwise, it was a beautiful place, but I can't stand people staying there who think they're better than us, or staff who automatically believe them.

By the wedding weekend, the team had made us feel like family. On Friday, Erin and Debbie walked us through the rehearsal, then we had a wonderful dinner in The Copper Room at Artisan. The service and food were great, and our guests loved the elegant, romantic setting. Saturday was magical: Erin, Debbie, and the rest of the team worked with our planner on a beautiful winter wonderland wedding. Erin brought champagne and hot hors d’oeuvres to our suite after the ceremony, and Debbie welcomed us to the reception with cocktails. The bar service was excellent, and both the chicken and filet mignon got rave reviews from our guests. Sunday morning, we were in tears hugging Debbie goodbye. The weekend went by so fast. We'd booked Delamar West Hartford more than two years before our wedding, drawn in by its luxurious, upscale feel and knowing it suited our formal, timeless black-tie winter celebration. The planning had some rough patches. Our first contact seemed cold, and after she left, we were passed among several sales coordinators. We didn't mind much at first because the date was far off and there wasn't much to plan yet. But about eight months before the wedding, we had lunch at Artisan with a new coordinator. It was a kind gesture, though she didn't seem to know much beyond our date. We had to go over the timeline, room choices, and pricing again, which was uncomfortable and concerning. After more miscommunication, we raised our concerns with Erin, the Director of Catering. She replied quickly, offered to meet, listened, and took ownership of the wedding. From about three months before the big day, everything ran smoothly. Erin honored the details in our contract from more than two years earlier and helped us put leftover funds toward upgrades for our guests. She was responsive and reassuring, stayed on top of the details, and worked seamlessly with our planner. We felt confident that years of planning would come together. The tasting about a month beforehand was another highlight, when we met Debbie, Charlie, and Hope. Alongside Erin, they treated us more like family than clients, and we felt our wedding was their priority. Despite the uneven start, we can't say enough good things about Delamar and Artisan West Hartford. Erin, Debbie, and the whole team showed such care and professionalism, and gave us the wedding we'd dreamed of. We're grateful.

The spa was peaceful and clean, and the massage therapists were excellent. We went with friends for spa treatments and an early dinner. There were great choices at the restaurant, and the service staff were friendly. We plan to return. This place is a gem.

The hotel was clean and welcoming, with lots of lovely spots for photos. We photographed a bride getting ready there and took pictures of her with her family in the lobby. It seems like a great place to stay for a wedding and get ready.

Everything was quiet, and check-in and checkout were immediate. I stayed for just three days, but it was a fantastic place, with wonderful staff. The food at the bar was some of the best I've ever had. One of the best places I've stayed.
