The whole staff at Hotel Ziggy were friendly, attentive, and ready to help, and the hotel has a fun, welcoming feel. My room was comfortable and set up well for a relaxing long stay. Allan deserves a special mention: he was kind, professional, and genuinely hospitable, and went out of his way to make sure I was comfortable and looked after. He made the stay much more enjoyable. I loved it and can’t wait to return. Highly recommend it for a fun, memorable hotel stay.

The team were friendly and welcoming the whole time, which made things more pleasant despite the problems. Hotel Ziggy is in a convenient spot if you want to be in the middle of things, but it fronts a busy boulevard with constant traffic and noise. Valet runs 24 hours, which is handy, though the price is extremely high. The hotel seems older, retrofitted with a retro-rock look. The concept is clear, but the underlying building feels dated, and the towels seemed worn and slightly stained. Mini-fridge drinks are significantly overpriced, and bar drinks cost like a resort. Premium prices aren’t the issue on their own, but the experience doesn’t match them. This feels like a standard hotel charging resort rates, and the maintenance and pricing don’t support that positioning.

I booked this hotel at the last minute for my West Hollywood visit. They gave me a room right away even though I arrived early, which I appreciated, but the first night was sleepless. My window wouldn’t lock, so I felt unsafe. The room faced the neighboring hotel’s garage entrance, with cars going in and out all day and night, like being beside a highway. At 7:30 a.m. a street cleaner woke me with a very loud machine. The sound insulation was awful, and from 5 a.m. I could clearly hear what sounded like a family with children running around overhead. I told the front desk the next morning. They said, “We are a city hotel; it’s normal to have a lot of noise here,” then moved me to a room facing a garden wall. It was dark, had no sunlight, and smelled damp. It was a little quieter, but soundproofing was still a problem. The in-room safe didn’t work, so I reported it straight away. I waited an hour and a half for someone to fix it, but nobody came. When I called again, I was told the technical staff had finished their shift and couldn’t help. I explained that I couldn’t leave my passport and valuables unsecured. At first they offered to move me, then took back the offer and said I’d have to wait until the next day. The call ended with, “There are no theft incidents in our hotel, please trust us.” That was extremely unprofessional. Housekeeping should proactively report something like this. I had no choice but to leave my valuables in the room and hope for the best. At night the corridors smelled strongly of something other than cigarettes. It seemed like some guests were having marijuana parties despite the prohibition, and the smell was intense all night. The ventilation system was loud too. The beds were so worn I felt the springs might break and poke into my back at any moment. Bottled water was the only complimentary item in the room. There was no tea or coffee machine, and you had to go to reception in the morning to pour coffee from thermoses. There weren’t even slippers. Honestly, what century are we living in? These are basic amenities now in most hotels. They mentioned margarita service from 3 to 4 p.m., if you’re willing to interrupt your day and come back at that specific time. The pool is mostly shaded, so you have to keep moving around to sunbathe, and there’s no lifeguard. I booked based on positive reviews, but the stay became a complete nightmare. As a travel expert and tourism professional who has stayed in many hotels, I can confidently say this is among the worst. Apart from the location, I definitely wouldn’t recommend it. There were much better hotels at the same price.

We didn’t spend much time at the hotel, but the vibe was so fun. Music, instruments, design, and energy run through the place, and it felt different as soon as we walked in. Everyone was really welcoming and nice. Our room was great, with a cool sofa and direct access to the heated pool, which would’ve been perfect if the weather had cooperated. There’s also a happy hour with music playing. A fun place to stay in LA.

I stayed eight nights. The location is good, and that’s the only positive thing I can say. This hotel absolutely doesn’t deserve four stars. From the moment you walk in, there’s a strong, synthetic, musty, extremely unpleasant smell throughout the building. It feels stale, unclean, and genuinely disgusting. I told the front desk and they laughed at me instead of taking it seriously. They said it was “just the rain,” an absurd and unprofessional excuse for an obvious moldy odor. The room was freezing. The heating was so loud I couldn’t leave it on at night. The room itself was large, but that didn’t make it comfortable. You had to request room service every day, repeatedly telling staff whether you wanted the room cleaned. That’s unacceptable for a hotel claiming four stars. Most staff were arrogant, rude, and disrespectful. The valet parking staff were the only polite ones. I arrived at midnight after a long flight and got no welcome, help, or information. The receptionist took my passport, handed me the key, and ignored my two large suitcases. No assistance or basic hospitality. The place felt dirty, badly managed, and deeply disappointing. It was unprofessional and completely overrated, an embarrassment for a so-called four-star hotel. I’d strongly advise people to stay far away.
