Quality Inn West Memphis I-40

We needed two rooms. One was okay, but room 116 had what looked like elongated bug eggs with dark casings, plus sheets that didn’t look clean. I wasn’t sure what kind of bugs they were, but I wasn’t going to risk staying there. They were able to move us. We saw three rooms total, and all had some stains on the duvets. The sheets had different stains and black smudges, and didn’t seem fresh, though that may just come with having white sheets. Service was great. The breakfast area was small and clean, with a decent variety for the price. The coffee was questionable, like it had been sitting for hours and turned sludgy. Air conditioners worked well. Each room smelled different, but none of the smells were overpowering. Good enough for a quick one-night stay. The location makes it a bit inconvenient to find food or coffee in the morning, but it’s very convenient for getting back on the interstate. Overall, it was a good experience. Like at any hotel, check the rooms before agreeing to stay. Two of the three rooms were good.

The bedding was clean, and breakfast was fresh, tasty, and had plenty of variety. Even with the very loud highway right next door, our room stayed quiet. A good road trip stop.

We felt unsupported and deeply disappointed by how the hotel handled the noise complaints. We checked in around 8 PM, and soon after we brought in our luggage, the front desk knocked to say our truck driver neighbor had complained that our child was too loud. Though it was still early evening, we took our child out right away to avoid disturbing anyone. When we returned around 10:30 PM, the desk came back just minutes after we entered and said we were keeping the neighbor awake. We were speaking at a normal volume, with no yelling or excessive noise. We asked to change rooms, but were told the hotel was full. Rather than offer another solution, staff warned us we’d be asked to leave if there were more complaints. Our daughter has special needs, and hearing that we might have to leave made her extremely anxious. She had an emotional meltdown, and it took a while to calm her. For the rest of the night, she was afraid to speak and felt stressed and uncomfortable. We understand being considerate of other guests, but expecting total silence before quiet hours is unreasonable. The staff showed no understanding or compassion for our circumstances, and the whole experience was upsetting.

Our plans for the night were ruined when the booking was canceled. We’d reserved two nights and got to town around 7:30. After we stopped to get something to eat, I noticed they’d tried to charge my card. The car company declined it as unusual activity because I rarely use that credit card. I called the front desk, and Roy was pleasant, but told me my reservation had been canceled because management instructed him to cancel it. My check-in date was 2/13, so I don’t understand why they canceled. We had to drive around looking for another room, which was definitely inconvenient.
