Courtyard by Marriott West Orange

The room was nice and clean, and it worked great for what we needed. There were plenty of diners close by, so we went out after the bistro staff member told us breakfast wasn't included, despite what we'd been told. She also said it was expensive and had limited choices. The room had a bit of a funny smell, though it wasn't too bad for one night. Construction beeping woke me at 7 am, so I wouldn't choose this place if you need somewhere noiseless.

Angel and Anetra at the front desk made me feel welcomed and valued. They were warm, professional, kind, patient, attentive, and knowledgeable, and took time to answer all my questions. Check-in was quick, requests were handled promptly and cheerfully, and every detail went smoothly. Their willingness to go above and beyond really improved my stay. I'd absolutely recommend this hotel based on the front desk service alone.

The lobby is gorgeous, a real sight to behold, but our experience at check-in was bad. My friend's mother had called the day before to say she wouldn't be there for all three days, only the second day. She was supposed to have surgery, though it was moved. If it had gone ahead, she would have been brought in unconscious. They wouldn't let us check into the room because my friend's dad, who made the reservation, wasn't with us. Even after my friend's mother put him on the phone with the front desk, they still refused. I keep thinking about what might have happened if the surgery had gone ahead and they wouldn't let them into the hotel.

We were staying there after a family member died tragically, and the Marriott Team showed us so much warmth and care. The staff went above and beyond, and I don't think a hundred thank-yous could cover the kindness and sympathy they gave us. Nini, thank you for the strength and comfort you passed on to us. I'll try to “sprinkle” kindness wherever I can. The rooms were excellent, and breakfast was great too. Thank you so much again!
