Residence Inn By Marriott West Orange

The rooms are large and nice, but there's construction going on now, so I'd avoid staying for the next 6 months to a year. I'm a Marriott Gold Member, and this was one of my worst experiences. I was traveling for business and told the front agent. When I asked about breakfast, she said 6:30 am; I told her I'd be gone by 5:30. Instead, I was put in a room with an adjoining room, right in the middle of a wedding party that had no respect for other guests. They were loud, played music, and slammed doors. I called the front desk several times. On my third call, an associate finally came to quiet them down. I complained again when I left in the morning. The agent said she had come, but no one answered the adjoining room door. I told her that by the time she got there, the guests had moved to another room. She showed no apology or sympathy. I spoke with manager Marissa today and got the same response. If something goes wrong, don't expect staff to go above and beyond. Unhappy guest.

We were visiting our in-laws with the kids and chose this place because we like Residence Inns for family travel. The breakfast was good and the staff were great. Matthew at the front desk went out of his way to make our one-year-old happy before the long drive home. Thanks, Matthew.

The room was wonderful, and so were the service and staff. We were there for a wedding, and Mike at the front desk made things especially easy. He was incredibly helpful and accommodating, really went above and beyond. We were lucky to have him. I'd definitely recommend the place!

I moved away from NJ but come back every year, and somehow never noticed this place even after driving down Prospect Ave so many times. We had to book somewhere at the last minute during graduation season, and ended up staying five nights. My family and I had a very pleasant time. Next year we'll book here on purpose 😉 The front desk service was five stars. Our suite had two queen beds, a pull-out sofa, two TVs, and a kitchenette that worked properly. The traditional style felt homey, and the complimentary breakfast was good enough that we ate it every day. Housekeeping cleaned the suite daily without throwing away any important belongings, even with the crumbs our toddler left behind. It's a diamond in the rough.
