Our key cards failed at least once a day for all five days. Each time we had to walk to the office, where nobody was there, even at check-in. Calling seemed to bother them, and some days it took 30 minutes just to get the key working again. We never got housekeeping, either, and the sinks wouldn’t drain. The room was dirty when we arrived, with grit underfoot and hair from the previous guests. We didn’t have enough towels for two people, and things were in various states of disrepair. Worst was the badly bowed shower rod: the curtain only stayed across the middle third, so every shower soaked the bathroom. That was especially frustrating with too few towels and no bath mat. It wasn’t the worst place I’ve stayed, but it’s easily in my top three. There were no bedbugs or roaches, and that’s about the only good thing I can say. Don’t stay here. It’s awful.

For a one-night stopover, I was glad to have a fridge, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Now that I know what to expect, I’d stay again on my own, but probably not with my girlfriend or kids. We arrived just after dark to find about a dozen people hanging around the parking lot. Quite a few guests seemed to be there for weekly or longer rentals and spent time outside their rooms. There was nighttime security in the lot. It was Thursday, and I had a 19’ boat on my F150, but I found several places to park. I locked a lot of gear in the cab and nobody touched anything. The room had two very used pillows and two towels and washcloths. The kitchen drawers were screwed shut, the bathroom needed repairs, and there was no exhaust fan, though the water pressure was great. Around midnight, ambulance lights and emergency staff on our floor got our attention. In the morning, a dog barking in someone’s room and a construction crew working on the building woke us. The elevator had some issues, too.

This motel has made a complete turnaround since my last review. We’ve been here two months, and it feels like family. Carissa is a wonderful manager, and the staff are helpful. It’s cheap, they pay attention to everyone’s needs, and they’re compassionate. I’d highly recommend it to anyone in a difficult spot in life. My husband is a veteran, Joseph Carpenter.

For $250, I arrived to find nobody available to help. The reception phone had been ripped off the wire, and a man was asleep in the vending machine area. There were groups drinking in the parking lot, but whatever. Before I even saw inside the room, I could smell it, like walking into a carton of cigarettes. The floors hadn’t even been swept, and the beds looked like the ones used in emergency evacuations. I’m not exaggerating, I think they were the exact same. There were puddles of water in the fridge. I only saw the round tub in the bathroom, then left. I wouldn’t have stayed there for free.

The bed was the most comfortable ever! The women at reception were so sweet and kind, and check-in and check-out were easy. I’d definitely stay again when I’m in West Palm Beach.
