The next morning, breakfast was a mess: boxes on the tables, food scattered across the counter, and the refrigerator left open with food inside. It was disgusting, and the cleaning staff seemed lazy. The night had already been awful. Kids ran up and down the hallway until nearly 3 am, and someone was yelling on the phone right beside our room. We both felt dirty just being there, like the place was somewhere to party and do drugs. When I got to the room, my card didn’t work. I went back downstairs and asked the woman for help from the balcony, but she ignored me. In the lobby, I asked whether she’d heard me. She said yes, but rudely told me she doesn’t talk to people from the loft. Earlier, I’d seen two girls in pajamas sitting on an ottoman while their kids ran around the lobby at almost 2:15 am. I’d also noticed a guy and a couple of girls smoking pot in their car nearby, but ignored it. At first the place seemed nice. After dropping off the luggage and guests at the front door, I’d gone looking for parking. I’ll never go back, and I don’t recommend it.

The staff didn’t make for a warm welcome. At check-in they were speaking rudely to other guests about noise complaints, and they came across as demanding. The place is somewhere to crash, but it badly needs updates and some basic hospitality training. The room felt old and dated, with a musty, humid smell and plenty of dust. There were no curtains, and the heat and A/C were locked to a hotel-controlled “ambient temperature system,” so we were stuck with their thermostat. The bed was cheap and springy, like a trampoline from 1995, and the pillows were flat, knotted and about as comfortable as a laundry bag. The TV was so small I wanted binoculars to see it. The bathroom had water damage and rust, plus a strong mildew smell. The shower head was missing a gasket and sprayed half the bathroom. There were no seals on the door jambs, so light came in around the frame like a horror movie prop. Even the towels smelled like curry and saffron. This wasn’t the worst stay, but it certainly wasn’t comfortable.

The location is fantastic, but the rooms were repulsive. I looked at four rooms and found several signs of bed bugs. The fourth also had mold in the shower. I left and went to Home2Suites in Smithfield RI instead. I’d never stay here.

I watched a housekeeper put the sheets from a checked-out room back on the bed without changing anything, not even the pillowcases. Think about all the dead skin and sweat on those sheets, and who knows whether they get washed. I’ll never stay here again. Check the sheets before lying down, or ask for fresh ones. 🤢🤮
