There’s a lot of rustic character and history here, and the price was right. Our room was roomy, the beds were comfortable, and the staff were friendly. Breakfast was included with plenty of choices, though hard-boiled eggs were the only protein option. The hot chocolate was basically hot water.

The icy patch by the front entrance made coming and going a little nerve-racking, and the elevator doesn’t reach the garage, so loading the car meant dealing with that ice or carrying things up a flight of stairs. We also left for Yellowstone just before 7, but breakfast didn’t start until then. On the plus side, coffee and tea were available in the lobby around the clock, the room was clean, and the bed and working AC made it easy to sleep comfortably. Good value overall.

The staff were nice, and the basic breakfast was fine. But I wouldn’t stay here again. The shower was the worst I can remember: water sprayed everywhere regardless of which setting I picked, even “direct jets,” so I ended up taking baths instead. Our TV picture was blurry and staticky, and after 25 minutes in the sauna my thighs were still cold and I hadn’t even started sweating. There was a towel jammed under the door, apparently to keep the heat in, but it didn’t seem to help. During the Olympics, the men’s USA hockey team was playing, and I asked the desk worker to change the channel. He said company policy required Fox News to stay on all the time. Was it okay to stay here? Yes. Would I come back? No.

The desk staff were especially kind about placing us near the entrance because of my husband’s mobility issues. When housekeeping missed our carpet, even after I left a note, the evening desk staff kindly vacuumed it for us. We enjoyed our six-night stay and would come back. The location is a few minutes from the park’s west entrance, with restaurants and shops nearby. Our room and beds were comfortable, and we had a fridge and coffeemaker. There’s a laundry on the second floor, closed at 10 pm, and staff said you can’t start a washer after 8 pm. Breakfast includes waffles, but ends right at 9 am, which feels early for a vacation area. Lobby coffee was handy to grab on the way out.
