The Captain Stannard

The owner welcomed us and carried our bags up, and the helpful staff made sure we had what we needed. The Inn was clean and cozy, and its distinctive feel is enough to make us want to return. We enjoyed the breakfast, and there was a Keurig and fridge available around the clock. It's a short walk to the beach, and we took the Inn's bicycles out too.

We had a great room, spacious and full of light, in a quiet neighborhood. It's a very nice boutique hotel. Access may be a bit difficult in most rooms, though it shouldn't be a problem for most people. Breakfast was a fairly upscale continental spread with lots of cold choices, and the fresh fruit yogurt parfait was excellent.

We wished we could've spent a whole week just relaxing at The Stannard. The hosts anticipated what guests might need and were thoughtful, and the accommodations made for a restful stay. We had plenty of room to unwind outside, with a big yard, veranda, wraparound deck, and lots of chairs and rockers. There were also bikes and yard and table games. It could be a great spot for a family reunion or event. Breakfast was attractively laid out, with a good range of choices including fresh fruit salads and non-dairy yogurt. The BnB felt secure and was easy to get into. The location worked perfectly for our plans, including an event at The Kate, and they offered a package discount for guests going there. There are plenty of nearby restaurants to choose from. We plan to come back.

Meri greeted us at the red door and helped us with anything we needed, from finding places to eat and see to suggesting a lovely walk to the nearby beach. She was fantastic. We stayed in the Captains Quarters, and the nautical, warm look carried through the lounge spaces and into the bedroom. The family clearly sees this as more than a business, and the whole B&B felt fabulous. We usually like trying new places and don't repeat stays, but my wife and I loved this one enough that we wished we could've stayed another night and may have to come back. Communication by email, text if needed, and the guest app made it easy to get answers and plan before arrival. I'll leave the rest for you to experience yourself.
