Theater Motel

The story of the former drive-in movie theater is interesting, and there are several nice spots outside to sit and watch the sunset. For this price range, the place was just what I expected. The rooms are dated, but quite clean.

The man who greeted me, probably the owner, was such a warm, welcoming person and clearly cares about every visitor’s experience. The room was clean and comfortable aside from the hairs I found in the bedding. It had a fridge and microwave, and everything worked as expected. I also caught an ant and a stinkbug during the few hours I was in the room, and the walls are very thin. The train is close by, and its horn will greet you every hour. I really wanted to give this a 5, but I can’t quite get there. It’s a strong 4, and I wouldn’t rule out staying again if I need a room in the area.

I booked three nights on Priceline for $311, then accidentally cancelled. I called Priceline two minutes later to fix it. They said it showed as cancelled on their end, but they couldn’t rebook because it hadn’t yet been cancelled on the motel’s end. When I called the motel, the man wanted us to pay $385 because of my mistake. That felt wrong, like taking advantage of people over something simple that could be fixed. If you can’t afford to sell rooms at the price you agreed to, find another business. This is no way to treat people. Scam alert.

The owner was very nice, and check-in was a breeze. It’s a lovely little motel, with small, cozy rooms that have a sink, microwave, and mini fridge. A good fit for a stay of more than a few days. Main Street, Tim Hortons, restaurants, and shops are all close by. We loved our stay and highly recommend it.
