Wyndham Garden Westlake Hotel

The pool was freezing and the hot tub wasn't working at all. While we waited, nobody seemed to know what was happening. We were told the GM had called off, employees started late, and there were only two housekeepers. That's not the guest's problem. I don't blame the front desk employees for a situation they weren't responsible for. We had a reservation with check-in after 3:00 PM, but hours later the room still wasn't ready. They said we could use the pool while we waited, yet after another two hours there was still no room. We paid for a full stay and lost hours waiting. The place felt disorganized and without anyone in control. This was my second stay, hoping it would be better, but it was the same mess. I believe a refund is deserved. Very disappointing again.

Room 119 cost me $370 for two days, and I've stayed in cheaper hotels that were much better. The tub was clogged with hair, so water backed up and I had to shower standing in dirty, hair-filled water. The curtain smelled like dirty men's sweat, the old furniture had a rusted lamp frame, and both the room and beds were small. I told the front desk on the first day about the drain, but it wasn't cleaned. There was no free breakfast. The woman kindly gave me a glass of milk when I asked, but it was completely spoiled. The hot tub didn't open until noon. I was so uncomfortable that I checked out two hours early just to get home, shower clean, and find something to eat and drink. The most horrible hotel stay ever. I'll never go back.

They went above and beyond to help me. I had reserved a pack n play, and the front desk found it as soon as I arrived. Then, two hours after leaving for home, we realized my son's retainer was missing at the hotel. The staff have been absolutely amazing about looking for it and getting it back to me.

The staff were super nice, and the price was good enough that I'd probably stay again. The shower was decent, though the toilet was strange and took about 10 minutes to flush. When we first arrived, the room smelled strongly of chlorine. Running the AC and heat for a while helped. The hallway smelled a little moldy too. I think the big pool atrium needs better ventilation so the humidity doesn't spread into the halls and rooms.
