Princess Inn

It’s a run-down, three-story motel with very thin walls and windows. Since the building sits right beside Beach Blvd, loud traffic kept us up all night. There’s no security on site, and the family ownership and management were terrible. I asked for a refund for the second night, but they said their policy doesn’t allow refunds. It’s noisy and unsafe. Do not stay here.

Our friends had a room in the same condition as ours, except theirs smelled. If you’re desperate for a room, the Princess Inn will get you out of the weather, but don’t expect a peaceful or comfortable stay. Keep your expectations very low. We recently stayed at the Princess Inn - Westminster / Huntington Beach at 15171 Beach Boulevard in Westminster, California. Check-in required agreeing to disclaimers that seemed based on past problems and made me think our car might be broken into, vandalized, or that we might be robbed. A low-flying helicopter’s prop blast overhead didn’t reassure us, and car alarms went off during the night. There’s also a zero-tolerance rule against hotel guests having visitors in their rooms, which makes me wonder what happened there. Online information says the building dates to 1986, and it didn’t look remodeled since then. The floor was badly worn and peeling, as was the wallpaper; a mirror anchor was broken, the paint was cracked and peeling, and the bedspread had a hole. There was a hole in the screen over the bathroom window, possibly how the cockroaches got in. The tiny room was generally clean apart from the roaches, though the outside of the microwave was filthy. The mattress sagged under us, and we could feel individual springs poking our backs. The shower pressure was good, but the hot water was lukewarm at best.

For the price, the room was decent, but the bed was the worst I’ve ever slept on. It sank in the middle and I couldn’t get any rest. The TV kept going blank, so I had to keep switching it off and on to restart it. Not an enjoyable stay.

The blankets and curtains were old, dusty, and dirty, and the elevator smelled bad and felt sketchy. We messaged the customer service desk but never got a reply. I wouldn’t recommend it. Save your money and stay somewhere else.
