Boston Inn

We found a bug on the pillow while getting ready for bed. I checked the mattress and saw no signs of bed bug damage, but there was a blood stain on one of the box springs. My child and I had allergic reactions, so we packed up the next morning and cut the trip short instead of staying the second night. The front desk person knew the room was awful, since the whole place is, and still wouldn’t refund us. Before that, we’d been told to inspect the room because there would be no refunds. We had no other options before our nighttime check-in, and it looked fine at first glance. It smelled stale and smoky, had nice styling but was in very poor shape, with visible damage, run-down furniture, and a gross feel. DO NOT STAY HERE.

Westminster, Maryland is my hometown, and I love coming back whenever I’m invited to an event. I’ve always stayed at Boston Inn on RT 140/Baltimore Blvd, which used to be reasonably priced. This time the two-night reservation for 10/10-10/12/2025 cost over $300. I was shocked, but booked ahead because I remembered the rooms and amenities being nice. Check-in went normally, then I got to the room and was shocked and disappointed. These photos aren’t true, and I wish I’d taken my own. There was black mold on the bathroom ceiling, and the tub looked scraped up, unrepaired, and unclean. I used my disinfectant wipes on the tub and the whole room, going through the entire container. It was dusty everywhere, with dirty floors and split wood. The lampshade was stained. The vanity light switch lit up but the light wouldn’t come on. The water suddenly turned scalding hot, and the microwave sounded like it was about to explode. There were no safety non-slip pads in the tub. We got just one towel, one washcloth, and one bath mat for two nights. There was no phone, iron, or ironing board. There were no clothes hangers, and when we asked, we were told no. The cell phone charger box wouldn’t stay in the outlet. The door chain had pulled out, and the hole hadn’t been fixed. The bedspread was too small for the king bed, barely covering the top, and the open half roll of toilet paper had obviously been used by previous guests. There was no “DO NOT DISTURB” sign, even after I asked for one. The front desk attendant was rude, disrespectful, and very unprofessional. The vending area was a joke, with empty machines and no ice. What hotel or motel doesn’t have a working ice machine? This P.O.S. place won’t see us again. Customer service was unapologetically horrible, rude, and disrespectful. Zero stars.

We booked a week ahead, but arriving with my family turned into the worst experience of our lives. The room had mildew everywhere and roaches. I wouldn’t let an animal stay in there. I was with my two kids, ages 9 and 6, and my wife, who was seven months pregnant. We were downstairs. The ladies also told us not to let the kids come out of the room and run around because the balcony roof above us might collapse. She said nobody had stayed downstairs because of the remodeling.

I took pictures as soon as I walked into the awful room. There was no hot water, cups, ice bucket, or coffee maker. The fridge door was hanging by one hinge and fell off while I tried to open it for our drinks. Behind the towels on the wall, I found a nasty old bandage when I took one down. Clearly the rooms aren’t cleaned well. We paid $190 for two nights, don’t do it, go somewhere else!
