The staff made the stay from beginning to end. Everyone at the front desk greeted me with a smile and made me feel like I mattered. Comfort Suites Denver North turned out to be a real hidden gem. I’d happily stay again, and I recommend giving it a try.

The staff were nice, and the area around the hotel was quiet, but my room was a mess. The sheets had stains and crusty spots, and the toilet didn’t work. I asked them to fix it while I was out. When I came back, the bathroom was nearly flooding, so I had to scoop water from the toilet into the shower to keep it from overflowing. I used the bathroom maybe three times in three nights. Nothing was done about the room or bathroom problem.

We came back and stayed the night after all, and I’m glad we did. My dad had wanted to stop, while I was set on driving on toward Arkansas. The receptionist working late on 11/15/25 warned me about deer on the freeway and advised against continuing at night. I tried anyway, then turned around after seeing the damage deer can do out there. She did us a favor with that warning. Great hotel, and I’d come back when passing through again.

They made me feel like family and took care of everything I needed. The staff were kind and easy to talk to, and the place felt welcoming without giving up on quality or safety. This part of the area can be volatile, and many nearby hotels offer poor service or a nightmarish stay. Comfort Suites used to be one of those, but I think new management or ownership is working hard to turn things around, and in my view they’re succeeding. The difference is striking even compared with the terrible La Quinta across the street, which I reviewed as deserving zero stars. Other hotels nearby could learn from Comfort Suites about hospitality and professionalism.

I’ve stayed at this motel before, so I gave the room five stars. The Westminster/Broomfield location also gets five from me, since they’re great commuter hubs for getting around the Front Range and beyond. The front desk encounter, though, was the worst experience I’ve had at any of the 10+ motels I’ve been in this year. I’m not someone who often leaves bad reviews. The past six months have been rough, and through no one’s fault but mine I spent most of them in motels or on friends’ couches. I was moving out of state and planned to leave on the 15th, using all the money I had. I had nowhere to stay for those last 48 hours, so a family member booked me a room here. The man at the desk, working around 8:45-9:00pm on Monday, October 13th, smelled strongly of vodka and spoke in a dazed, drunken way. He treated me like I was foolish and a vagrant. First he said there was no reservation, then, several minutes later, said there was one for 10/15-10/17 and told me to rebook. That seemed fair, and at that point I didn’t care about the obvious drunkenness. I went to my car to sort it out with the person who booked the motel. They gave me a confirmation number and a screenshot, and offered to call the desk to help resolve it. Back inside, I asked the man to search by confirmation number. He refused to take it and said I had no reservation. I asked him to take a call from the person who booked the room, but he wouldn’t, asking what I thought that would achieve. Maybe getting checked in? After an infuriating back-and-forth, he demanded that I come behind the counter. He made me spell out my name while he typed, and the vodka smell was so strong it made me gag. Then he asked me to check the spelling before he searched. The search brought up nothing, and when I questioned him because he’d already said I had a reservation starting 10/15, he just stared with glassy eyes and went silent. I can only assume he was so drunk he couldn’t see straight and confused my reservation with someone else’s. The first two letters of our names matched, but the names were quite different in pronunciation and length. I know that because he let me see the upcoming reservations after making me go behind the desk. He then said their policy doesn’t allow another party to make a reservation for someone. Fine, but he could have said that 45 minutes earlier, when I first explained that a family member had booked the room for me. It’s hard to describe how dismissive and disrespectful he was. He seemed to go out of his way to belittle me, act inhospitable, and be hostile, all while clearly intoxicated. I can understand that some people enjoy putting others down when they don’t have much control over their own lives, but this was too much. I didn’t get his name, but the date and time were October 13th, around 8:45-9:00pm, so I don’t need it.
