Comfort Inn Wethersfield - Hartford

The building smelled strongly of marijuana throughout our three-night visit, especially on the second floor, and the atmosphere felt unpleasant and unprofessional. Breakfast was listed as available, but it was served only on one of the three mornings. Even then, staff were packing it up by 8:30 a.m., with hardly any food left. Our key cards quit working every day, sometimes twice in a day, so we had to get them reprogrammed repeatedly. The lobby was always disorganized and poorly run, and only one elevator was operating. This place seems to have gone downhill over the past few years. The stay was unacceptable, and I wouldn't recommend it. The property isn't being maintained or managed to a reasonable standard.

I won't come back. As a Diamond member of Choice, I found the staffing here among the worst. On arrival, nobody was at the desk, and the phone number they left went unanswered until I called multiple times. Staff weren't friendly or helpful. I then waited 2 1/2 hours to check in during snow and freezing rain, and still didn't get the top-floor room I'd requested by phone a week earlier. The halls smelled of smoke or something strange, the elevator was missing buttons, and my bathroom sink wouldn't drain. The heavy doors slammed shut. A sign said breakfast started at 6:00 am, but the front desk said 7:00am, too late for me since I had to leave by 6:30 am.

We were stuck here for a week because there weren't any other hotels available. The place smelled like curry throughout, and I saw more code violations than I've ever seen at a hotel. The pool wasn't working, and every time we left the room, we had to go to the desk to get the key card renewed. The first room had something nasty in two walls, maybe feces, I don't know. We asked to switch, and the next room had a TV remote, but the bathroom door didn't work. When I asked the manager for towels and complained about the remote, he got aggressive and offered to kick us out. Horrible experience. If 1 out of 10 is the scale, I'd give it -100.

The weed smell was constant, in the halls, common areas, and even our room. It was overwhelming and made it hard to relax, especially with family. We booked five nights but couldn't manage more than one. The place felt unsafe, and we genuinely didn't feel secure staying there. Staff were rude, dismissive, and unhelpful from the start. When we raised concerns, we got attitude instead of help. Cleanliness was well below any reasonable standard, the property felt neglected and poorly managed, lighting was inadequate, and amenities were extremely limited. It shouldn't be presented as suitable for families or longer stays. Save yourself the stress and book somewhere else.
