Alger Falls Motel

We’ve been staying at Alger falls for years. It’s privately owned and gives us a comfortable, affordable place in a handy spot in munising. The staff are so friendly, and we love it there.

We gave up on the second night because the room felt too gross to stay in, and we ended up losing over $100 after leaving after just one night. The owner said she thought she could book the room and that we should get some money back, but no refund ever came. We were only offered casino cash after the room mix-up. We’d booked two nights in a double queen room, but were given a one queen room the first night. They offered a double queen for the second night, but we didn’t want the hassle of switching rooms. The smell hit as soon as we walked in, very musty and unpleasant. The toilet leaked around the base, despite staff saying it was condensation, and it also stopped flushing until my husband opened the tank and got it going. The bathroom door only closed if you lifted it. One old pillow smelled strongly of greasy hair, so I used my own and put the others on the floor. We’d had enough.

A good place to sleep while you’re out enjoying the area. The rooms were clean, the beds comfortable, and the staff were great.

There were three couples and three rooms in our group. When the water broke, we couldn’t use the bathroom, and staff just snarked, “good luck finding somewhere else to stay.” No apology, just a really dismissive response. The rec room was old and musty, with a stained, nasty pool table. The bedrooms smelled musty too, the pillows were old, and there were plumbing problems.
