Royal Regency Inn

I’ve stayed at this motel several times and it’s never let me down. The rooms are a good value, and everyone is so nice.

I’ve stopped here twice by myself while driving to Florida, and it’s been a convenient, restful place for a quick exit off the highway. For a two-star motel at this price, my expectations were reasonable, and it was respectable and clean with nice, fair management. The building is clearly older, but they’re upgrading the rooms and keeping the property safe and tidy. Both late-night check-ins and the late check-outs I requested were handled courteously and easily. The surroundings felt safe, and the other guests were quiet both times. Their posted rules about guests and visitors were reassuring. I got a comfortable, sound sleep in a dark, well air-conditoned room, which is what I paid for. A coffee maker in the room or at the front desk would be nice, but I’d gladly stay again.

I stayed only a few minutes before leaving. The room was filthy and outdated, with roaches, mold and mildew, stained linens full of cigarette burn holes, a bad-smelling dingy towel, and worn, dirty curtains. The cable TV channels were awful too. Those room pictures are misleading. Do yourself a favor and stay away.

Food options nearby are convenient, but I wouldn’t stay here again or recommend it to a family, a pet, or anyone. The place felt more like a motel than a hotel, and the service was mediocre. The staff weren’t very friendly, yet they were strict about additional guests. My husband had booked under his name, so my son and I first had to call him to change the reservation name. That took a few minutes. Then the card reader wouldn’t take my payment card because the old one was still on file. Once we finally checked in, the room wasn’t updated and had roaches and spiders crawling around. We were completely uncomfortable and had booked five nights, so I went back to ask for another room. The replacement wasn’t any better, but we made do. Book somewhere better if you can afford it.
