The bathroom won me over: the tub was great, the hot water kept coming, the shower pressure was good, and the drain cleared fast. I also liked check-in, the option to pay for wash, dry, and fold, and the location, about a 10-minute walk from the stores and restaurants. Getting a key instead of a swipe card was nice too. Then I opened the room and loved it. The big comfortable bed with its fluffy pillows and headboard set the tone. The polished wood furniture all matched, and the dark brown, light brown, and almost red tones looked cozy against the antique light blue walls and navy gray trim. The lamps, curtain, comforter, and gold picture frames tied it all together. It's the most economical hotel I've been to, and I fell in love with the room. The owners are welcoming and clearly care about guest satisfaction. Housekeeping is awesome too. I look forward to their daily knock and hearing a kind voice check on me. I know it's their job, but it feels good.

The owner, Jay, and his wife were super friendly. The rooms were clean and cozy, and it was nice and quiet while I stayed there with my kids. I'd definitely come back soon.

The bed was the biggest letdown. It was very hard, with just a mattress on plywood instead of a box spring. Traffic was noisy too, and you could see outside through the gaps along the sides of the door. There were some good things for the price: newer wood floors instead of old stained carpet, a decent sized cable TV, working AC, and better sheets and pillows than at most budget motels. But my sheets had strange smudges and oily looking spots. Staff changed them quickly when I showed them. There were cobwebs in the corners, rough towels, no shampoo, and very dirty mirrors. About what I'd expect for the price.

The front desk person was really nice. When we arrived, though, they were touching or grooming their feet, then walked right up to check us in. We first got a room with one bed, but it was too small, so we asked for another. The restroom in that room looked very old and in need of renovation. The next room had two beds, each a mattress on long, flat wooden boards. The restroom was tiny and felt like a prison cell. I felt like I needed shower shoes. The AC was okay, but I had to turn it down because my kids were sweating through the night. We went to the countryside inn for the same price.

I called to ask whether they had a room available for a family. They asked me if the person was white or black. Why ask me that when I'm trying to bring you some business? Really, it sounded like racism.
