Econo Lodge Inn & Suites Lake Harmony - Pocono Mountains Area

We couldn't book because we travel with our dog and Econo Lodge isn't pet-friendly. The front desk woman was pleasant, welcoming, and helpful with our questions, though. The convenient location and property gave a clean, well-kept impression, and it seemed like a nice, straightforward budget option for people without pets.

I'm getting the runaround trying to cancel. They say I booked through Booking.com and can't cancel it, but I don't have an account there and checked to make sure. My card shows a charge from Econolodge. The merchant phone number attached to it says Priceline, then tells me to call the hotel directly. Be careful before booking here.

I slept better here than I have at a hotel in a long time. The stay was peaceful, and the mattress and pillows were comfortable. The air conditioning worked perfectly, with a ductless system. I'd suggest the second floor, back section. GM Dan and staff Amy and Steve gave wonderful service. The staff member might have been Annie, but apologies if I've got that wrong. Five stars.

The biggest downside was the price. I arrived a little after midnight, when the online rate was around $70 plus taxes, but they charged over $100 with taxes. They said they wouldn't honor the online price and suggested I book online, even though booking that same night wasn't possible. I've seen hotels in Pennsylvania and elsewhere in the U.S. honor their online prices, so this was disappointing. The room itself was spacious and seemed new or recently renovated, with painted walls and no broken furniture. The bathroom was clean and had enough towels. The bed was good, with a medium to medium-firm mattress. I didn't try the TV, but there was a microwave, freezer, and coffee machine. The machine was clean and didn't smell like old coffee, a nice sign of maintenance. The newer split AC above the bed had a working remote, and I could adjust temperature, airflow, and direction. There were people on the second-floor balcony around midnight or 1 a.m., having what seemed like a picnic, drinking alcohol and singing. The front desk person didn't seem to care. It didn't bother me because my room was far enough away that I couldn't hear them, but guests closer by were probably uncomfortable. I don't know whether anyone reported it to reception or police. Breakfast was also unclear: the person on duty at night said there'd be coffee and donuts or croissants in the morning. When I went out around 7 a.m., the new receptionist said it was too early and they might arrive around 8:30 or 9. There was nothing to eat or a way to make coffee then, which was a letdown.
