Days Inn by Wyndham White House

We were worn out after over 10 hours in the van from Florida to Ohio, and the kids were getting cranky, so we tried the last available king room even though it was for smoking. The smell was overwhelming, as you’d expect. When we asked for our money back so we could find another hotel, they offered a non-smoking jacuzzi suite for the same price. The tub worked, but it was dirty and we had to clean it before using it. Its controls didn’t work and a knob was missing, and the bathroom floor was dirty too. The staff were accommodating and friendly. It’s not fancy, but for the price we didn’t complain.

I paid in cash because the card reader was down and they were taking cash only. When I got to the room, there were no towels and the bathtub had standing black water in it. The front desk refunded me immediately. I also saw shredded curtains in many rooms, some wall air conditioner units that were just holes in the wall, and visible damage to the roof over the office.

The room stayed warm because our air conditioner wasn’t working properly, though our parents’ room was really cold. Inside, the rooms were clean and the linens were comfortable, and there was no musty smell. The bed was okay, not great. I’m 5'4" and found the shower very short, especially around the shower head. The exterior of the building really needed cleaning. You could tell the place had been updated recently. 👍🏻

The pictures on the website don’t show what this place really looks like. The room smelled terrible, the bed was very uncomfortable, and we found flies inside. Someone had removed the peephole and covered it with duct tape. The bathroom was so small you could barely turn around, and the shower was broken. Our feet stuck to the floor, so we bought cleaner and paper towels and scrubbed everything before unpacking. Whatever was on the floor was black. We left for another hotel and took the loss because this room wasn’t refundable.
