Colony Inn Motel

Room 19 was clean and dry, with no mold smell, and I didn't see any bugs. I was happy with the room and the motel generally, and would suggest that room to anyone staying around White Marsh or Middle River. It's definitely better than the other motels on Route 40. The owners were pleasant and helpful, though they were cheap: when I had someone fix a leaking sink at 3am, they wouldn't reimburse me. I'm just someone who needed a room, not a family member.

It was quiet and nobody bothered me, and the owner was willing to lower my rate because I had to stay for a while. The room itself could use an update. The bathroom wasn't very clean, so I did it myself, and there were a few burn holes in the sheets. The mini fridge was the smallest I've ever seen, and the microwave was just as tiny.

The room had bed-facing TVs in some of the website photos, but before I paid, the owner told me all the rooms were the same and none had a TV facing the bed. I asked because I didn't want to strain my neck watching one beside the loud AC. I agreed to take the room only because I couldn't afford another option. After checking the site, I realized there were rooms with the setup I'd asked about. The owner and his wife then yelled, laughed at us, and taunted us, acting belligerent and aggressive because we'd caught them lying. He showed us the other room and agreed to keep the price at $70, the amount we'd already paid, but when we went for the key he changed his mind and demanded $80. I'd been recording after that first lie because I expected more trouble. We said we wouldn't pay extra, since he'd agreed to $70 after failing to tell us our options. We hadn't even spent more than 10-15 minutes in the first room. When we asked for our money back so we could leave, he refused to refund us or let us stay in the other room. We called the cops, and got back less than half. The owner and his wife kept laughing, taunting and yelling, and spoke badly to us, apparently thinking I couldn't understand their language. They also told another guest what was happening. That guest said the owner's brother, who was staying there, had told him everything. The cops said they get calls about this place a lot, that shady things are always going on, and that they wouldn't recommend it because the owners seem to think people are gullible. They also agreed the place was shady. I'm suing now, and they explained the steps for taking this civil case to the courthouse. The owner violated our privacy by discussing us with guests. He's a very evil guy. I'd never recommend staying there, even if it meant sleeping on the road for a night. I would NEVER send anyone to this disgusting, nasty, bug-infested, moldy place.

They charged $75 a night even though the sign said $40 and up, way too much for what I got. The so-called free Wi-Fi kept cutting out and was slow. There was blood on the lampshade, and the floor felt sticky and filthy. I stayed eight days, and they cleaned the room once. I should've slept in a dumpster.
