The lounge was a comfortable size, with a fireplace and lots of games. We enjoyed spending a rainy day there. The bar area was very small. Both spaces were really dimly lit, though, so people with low vision should be aware.

You can walk out and ski to the mountain, or walk just a few hundred feet to get there. There’s also a bus downtown, and the lodge is beautiful and cozy, like being at your grandma’s house. Staff were incredible. They have a shared fireplace, bar and restaurant, plus cute little snacks and hot chocolate from 3 to 5 p.m. Complimentary breakfast is simple but very good. We highly recommend staying here!

The afternoon hot cocoa and popcorn were a perfect extra after a day on the slopes. Breakfast was delicious, too, and the shuttle could take us anywhere on the mountain and pick us up again. My family and I spent a week at Kandahar, and it was a truly relaxing vacation. Every staff member was so helpful with our questions and clearly cared about us. Thank you, Kandahar staff, for a lovely time. If you’re wondering whether to stay here, you definitely should!

The hot tub, heated boot room, morning waffles, ski-in access, and shuttle make it hard to beat. Everything is spotless without feeling over-bleached. The fire is always going, and the staff are always friendly and welcoming. We’re local and spend just about every winter weekend at Kandahar. By far the best place to stay on Big Mountain. It’s our freaking favorite!

After a long, hard day on the mountain, the hot tub is perfectly hot before or after skiing. Breakfast was great, and so were the apres ski hot cocoa and popcorn. The common area where everyone hung out was really great too. Loved the Kandahar!
