Lodge at Whitefish Lake

Everything else was fine, and the place seemed really nice, but the Thanksgiving buffet charge was frustrating. My husband and I stayed over Thanksgiving and reserved a spot at the hotel's buffet. I asked about the price when booking and was told there was no extra charge. I checked again at arrival, and the person checking us in said the same thing. We showed up, ordered drinks with dinner, and expected to pay for those drinks only. Then the server charged us $75 each for the buffet. At the front desk, my husband was told this was because we'd booked through a third party. The check-in employee had noted that booking detail, yet still told me the buffet was free. I'm hoping it was an honest mistake and the employees didn't know the policy, but I can't be sure it wasn't a way for the lodge to make more money. I asked twice and got the same answer both times. If we'd known there'd be a charge, we wouldn't have gone.

The winter scenery was fabulous, and the holiday decorations were beautiful and festive. Our room was cozy, with a fireplace and sitting area, a comfortable bed, and nice ensuite amenities. Every staff member we met greeted us with a smile and a real “at your service” attitude. The Boathouse had great calamari and crispy bacon at breakfast, and the location was convenient for everything we wanted to do and see. We couldn't have been happier with our stay at the Lodge.

There was plenty to do at The Lodge without going anywhere else, which made for a fantastic getaway. I loved the spa. The masseuses were experienced, attentive, and relaxing. All the food was delicious, with more variety than I expected. I'd highly recommend it for a vacation and will definitely be back.

We had an amazing winter visit and a great time. Scott and Cole at the front desk went above and beyond to accommodate us, and the concierge desk was very helpful in planning our trip before we arrived. Thanks again!
