Quality Inn & Suites Skyways

The first impression wasn't much, but inside it was very clean and well appointed, with excellent guest service and a room stocked with amenities. We had a pet-friendly room and it didn't smell or show any signs of pets. The beds were so, so hard, though. There seem to be many long-term guests, but it was still quiet and the grounds were clean. If you're into planes, it's cool that you can walk to the airport and watch them. We'd definitely stay again.

The room smelled of cigarettes even though it was meant to be non-smoking, and it felt damp. We found someone's hair clip accessory in the bathroom, so it clearly hadn't been cleaned well. There weren't enough towels for two people. The main entrance door wasn't working either, which meant one of us had to walk around to the side door and let the other in from inside. Check-in staff were not friendly, and the continental breakfast was just okay. I also don't like having to pay an extra $50 deposit that is returned after checkout. It makes me feel as if you're assuming I'm going to damage the place.

I expected a horrible room because of the location and some earlier reviews, but was surprised to find it seemed pretty clean. The small bathroom was clean and felt trustworthy. The beds were nicely made, and the fridge and microwave were clean too. The rooms are dated, and I agree about those half-size pillows, probably the worst part. Breakfast was okay for a place like this, and I didn't have any real problems with the staff I interacted with.

This was my first stay at Quality Inn, and it won't be my last. I felt comfortable and able to relax without worrying. Dennis at the front desk was very helpful with room choices and pricing. Talking to the desk got me a better rate than the online price, so the advice to call first seems right. The continental breakfast runs 6-9 a.m. I was exhausted the night before and remembered 9 a.m., so I arrived just as the staff member was closing up. She was friendly, courteous, and funny, and I was glad Dennis had explained enough for me to make it in time to grab something for myself and my girl. The room service woman was courteous and helpful too. I left an item behind and was able to go back in without a problem. She didn't hassle us about cleaning the room. I left on time, but I'm sure late checkout wouldn't have been an issue. The room and bed were very good. It was a pet-friendly room, but I didn't notice any strong or unpleasant pet smells, which says something good about the house and cleaning staff. The mattress wasn't cheap or too springy, but it wasn't firm either. If firmness matters, ask the front desk whether they have rooms with firm or newer mattresses. A suite might be the better choice sometimes. A little advice for motel and hotel guests: if you want a clean room, be proactive. Strip the bed, pile your towels, and bag your trash to help the staff get the room ready for the next guest or your stay. Leave a tip too, around $2-3 per day or night, more if the room is messy or you're in a rush. They deserve it. They're happy when you're happy, and you're happy when they're happy.
