The room was the surprise of the stop. It was huge, spotless, and had no pet smell at all. We were in a pet-friendly room with our two dogs, and the first floor meant their playtime wouldn’t bother anyone upstairs. After weeks in our tiny camper with a mini schnauzer and an overweight Rottweiler, my husband and I really needed room to spread out. We booked two queen beds, and there was even space to toss the dogs’ toys around until they finally got tired after most of the drive. The clean wood floors, full-size microwave, mini fridge with a separate freezer, and little table and TV stand were all nice to have. The two women at the office were so friendly, too. We’d driven nearly 12 hours, so I’m glad we chose this place, especially with the caverns so close. One heads-up, I’d been told food places shut down after 3 p.m., and even the gas station across the street was closed by 10 when we got in. The shower was lukewarm at best, though after a few days of boondocking I was just glad to have a real shower. I expected something like the recent Motel 6 we’d stayed in because the price was so affordable, but I was wrong. I might even try to talk my husband into staying another night before we head out.

The pool with its water slide was a fun surprise, and it’s family friendly. Our room was enormous, and staying here worked out perfectly on the way to see Carlsbad. I’d definitely recommend it. This place turned out much better than I expected.

The pool wasn’t open during our stay, but in summer there’s a water slide and a kiddie pool. We were there for Carlsbad Caverns and Guadalupe Mountains National Park, and the location worked great. The hotel was clean, with clean sheets and a comfortable bed, and our bathroom had been beautifully remodeled. I can’t say enough good things about this place. Highly recommend it.

The breakfast was pretty limited, just fruit, coffee, muffins, and cereal, but for what we paid this was great value. It’s so close to Carlsbad Cavern and Guadeloupe Mountain national parks, and it’s the closest lodging to Carlsbad Cavern national park. Our two-night stay for the national park visit was quiet. The double queen room had plenty of space, and the beds were super comfortable. There’s a fridge, microwave, and coffee maker, too. The shower had good pressure, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean. The pictures were taken after we checked out, so pardon the mess.

I called to ask for the money back and was told verbally that I’d get a refund, but around two weeks later nothing had been processed. It’s only about two quarters, but any mismatch in what you’re charged feels obnoxious and, at best, points to negligent bookkeeping. We stayed at White’s City Cavern Inn about two weeks ago, two of us, to visit the caverns. The inn is cute, and although its age shows, it was generally clean and pleasant. There were some stains on one of the outer comforters in our two queen room. The bigger issue was that they charged more than the reservation quote: the quoted room was $99.99, but my card was charged $100.51. The only difference between the receipts was the state tax at checkout, which was higher than the tax quoted on the reservation. As far as I can tell, the reservation tax rate was right and the checkout rate was wrong. Maybe try somewhere farther into Carlsbad, where food options will be more convenient anyway.
