Ft. Wilderness RV Park and Campground

The grounds weren't clean, with lots of unkempt, rotting trailers and non-running vehicles that made it hard to maneuver. The narrow, one-lane entrance road had blind spots and potholes, and even turning or driving around the park was difficult because of cluttered long-term campers. They first assigned us a site that was already occupied, then told us to just find one, and staff didn't seem to know which sites were available. The website photos and prices are misleading. We were given an estimated price by phone, and the website showed a slightly lower one, but they still charged a balance at check-in without clearly explaining why. Very disappointing. I wouldn't recommend it or return.

We felt really unsafe and stayed only long enough to find somewhere else. There were loose dogs, a sewer smell, and the place was very poorly kept. Most people there seemed to be long-term campers. It looks like they're trying to update it, but trust the negative reviews. They were right, and I wish I'd listened.

It was pretty quiet at night, and I don't have any complaints about that. This wasn't a terrible place, though so many people live in the RV park and some lots were cluttered. Getting the check-in information was difficult because it was hard to reach anyone. The phone number on the website didn't work, so I had to email and wait for an answer.

The two women we met were very nice, and the first staff member we spoke to was especially helpful. I think one of them was the owner. I spoke with the park, and they said they'd refund our money. We had reservations but couldn't stay. The site we'd booked online turned out to have someone living there permanently. They offered us another spot, but we needed 50 amp service as booked. The pull-throughs on a hill were easy enough to pull into, but there was no room to walk in front of the camper without going down a bank, and we couldn't put the steps down or open the awning. The nice woman then showed us a few nearby sites, but they only had 30 amp. After reading more of the reviews, I wouldn't reserve here again. The one-lane road in is hard to manage when cars are coming and going, the bathrooms were horribly dirty, and there was broken glass all over the pull-through site. I should have read the reviews first, and the website pictures are definitely misleading.
