Hampton Inn Wichita Falls Sikes Senter Mall

The two stars are for the two women at the desk who tried to improve my stay. The staff do try, but the hotel overall is dingy, noisy, and poorly maintained. I often returned to find people drinking and loitering in the parking lot. The walls are so thin that I could hear neighboring guests snoring, talking, walking, and making noise. It was miserable. The breakfast was so-so. The hot items came prepacked and were warmed in a microwave or convection oven, leaving them soggy, chewy, and unappetizing. The "eggs" were over salted; waffles were the best part. Tables and seats in the dining area are warped. On the plus side, there are newer front-loading washers and dryers onsite. Complimentary adult beverages are offered three late afternoons a week, while snacks are self pay. Kool-aid, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and cookies are available daily. From the start, the elevator was down and the key cards didn't work. The room was dingy, with peeling veneer and chunks missing from the furniture, battered lampshades, a shower that didn't work properly, and a broken, warped door frame that made the door hard to open and close. The faucet sticks so far into the basin that washing my hands took some maneuvering to keep water in the sink. The carpet was stained and coming loose in places, especially where it meets the tile.

I booked an accessible room, but it had no bathtub bench or chair, no curtain hooks to grab, and just two handrails in the tub with none by the toilet. The carpet was torn by the divider, and chunks were missing from the furniture. There was also a portrait missing, leaving two holes in the wall, and no one had fixed it. It took the desk lady about five tries to get our keys working. It was her first night working alone, and none of her upper management answered their phones. She eventually reached someone for help. I hope the mattresses are at least somewhat comfortable and help make up for this day.

We've stayed here a few times while visiting town and have always been pleased. The rooms are clean and cozy, the staff are courteous, and the free breakfast is pretty good. We've never had a bad experience and plan to keep staying here when we're in town.

The night turned into a stressful, uncomfortable mess, and this was the worst hotel stay we've ever had. When we got to the room, the air conditioning wasn't working. Guest Services offered a fan or a discount; since we only planned to sleep for a few hours, we accepted the discount and tried to move on. Then we found a significant amount of blood on the bed, clearly visible on top where the sheets are folded. It wasn't a minor stain, and housekeeping could not possibly have missed it. This is a serious biohazard and completely unacceptable. They moved us to another room and discounted the bill, but all we got was an apology. There was no explanation, acknowledgment of how serious it was, or reassurance that proper sanitation procedures are followed. Visible gunk and buildup on the walls added to our concern that rooms aren't being cleaned or inspected properly. Blood on bedding is a health and safety failure, not a minor inconvenience, and it should be treated with the seriousness it warrants. I expect this to be escalated and addressed, because it shows a significant breakdown in housekeeping and quality control standards.
