Chateau Bleu

Very clean place, and the pool is kept up really well. The staff are friendly, and I’d definitely stay again. The rooms are a little small and the bathroom is tiny, but the location is great. Russo’s is just a block away, with good sandwiches and a little market for things you might need. The beach is also an easy walk.

Mike was a true angel to a family in need. When we finally found the Chateau Bleu at 9 pm, we were six people packed into a hot car with all our belongings. Earlier that day, Friday, 7/7, all the power in Wildwood had gone out. We were in town for Battle on the Beach, but the hotel where we had reservations refused to check us in. They kept us waiting in the heat all day, then locked up and left everyone to find somewhere else. With the power and phone service down, we couldn’t call around. We drove aimlessly from place to place, stranded, and some places tried to gouge us for a room without power, hot water, lights, or AC. We nearly took one, but kept looking. A sign on the Chateau Bleu office door said they were offering guests complimentary water from coolers and hot dogs they’d grilled during the outage. It called it a “Power Outage Pool Party.” It was already 9 pm and we hadn’t been part of it, but seeing the sign made me feel better before I even went inside. I explained what happened to the owner, Mike, who couldn’t believe our other hotel had turned us away. He immediately offered us a room for the night on more than generous terms. He brought out small gas generators and refueled them all night so guests could charge phones. He also had headlights shining on the big, clean pool so people could swim safely any time and cool off in the sweltering heat. The room and beds were clean, the facility was well maintained, and it was everything we needed. I can’t recommend this place enough. The people are amazing and friendly, with top-notch service. I’ll tell anyone who’ll listen and will definitely stay there again!

I’ve never stayed there, but I drive past your hotel every summer. I heard it’s closing, and it’s become a Wildwood landmark every summer. Best of luck with the future, and I hope someone can save it!

We liked it so much we added two days to our stay and didn’t want the vacation to end. The owners are friendly, and our room was clean with a fully furnished kitchenette. It’s on the quiet end of town, though an Uber to most hot spots is only $8. There’s a cute little ice cream shop right next door. Highly recommended!
