The staff were great from check-in onward, especially after we’d checked out and realized hours later that we’d left something in the room. When we called, they had found it, were kind about it, and explained how to have it sent to us. That’s excellent service even after leaving. The location, room, and shared areas were all very nice. If you’re nearby, give them a try.

Mr Arthur at the front desk was wonderful, and breakfast was good, especially the amazing jalapeno egg muffins. The fire in the outdoor seating area stayed lit, a nice touch. My room was very clean, had a full kitchen, and cost me $80, which felt like a lucky deal. I’d happily return. I rated the location lower only because I hadn’t realized Ruby Falls was so far away. From here, expect about a 30-minute drive there in the morning.

My wife has diabetes, and Art at the front desk treated her terribly. She’d left her phone in our room and was refused access to anything that could help her retrieve it and check her blood sugar. She was crying in the lobby in front of other guests and employees, then had to walk to the hotel next door and try to reach me. The hotel finally called me after she’d been crying for a while. Parking is a nightmare, with construction vehicles everywhere, and you usually have to park at the neighboring hotel. Housekeeping seems overwhelmed and service is spotty. There are plenty of other hotels around here to choose from.

Breakfast wraps up earlier than it does at most hotels. But my main problem was trying to get back a hoodie I’d left in the room after wearing it once. It was brand new, and it took at least 50 phone calls over three days just to reach someone. They said lost items go through a third party. I’d paid a little over $60 for the hoodie, and the hotel and its partner wanted more than $160 to ship it to me. That’s absurd. I travel often, and after this I’ll avoid Marriott hotels. I figured $25 would be the most it might cost. Shame on you, Marriott. Pathetic.
