We’d stayed at Daytona for the last three or four years, always in the same room, and it had been great until this visit. The motel was mostly occupied by bikers. Bikers generally don’t bother us, and these people seemed nice, but they were loud and gathered just down from our room. On most nights they were outside laughing and talking loudly past midnight, and one had a large dog that barked a lot. Many smoked or vaped in the walkway where they sat. The motel has a strict quiet-time rule after 10 p.m., posted on the wall between their rooms. There was also a sign across from where they sat directing people to the designated smoking area in the back parking lot. Management knew what was happening and allowed it, even though this had never been allowed with anyone else during our previous stays. We paid a lot for five days there. I understand the bikers paid a lot too and, as a group, were probably good business for the motel. They sounded like yearly regulars, but that shouldn’t give them special privileges to break the rules while management looks the other way. If that’s how it works, management should close the motel to other guests or offer them a discounted rate and warn them about the conditions. The rules should apply equally to everyone. This was completely unacceptable management behavior and bad business, and it’s unfair to other paying guests who don’t know what they’re getting into. People won’t want to stay there.

This would have been my first stay at Daytona Inn & Suites, booked for two nights in September 2025. I paid well ahead of the weekend. A couple of days before our trip, I was diagnosed with COVID and couldn’t cancel or reschedule. They said the only option was to refund one night’s stay, but I’m still waiting for that money. It’s October 14, 2025 now. What am I supposed to do?

What a great find. The staff were kind and attentive, and the place was centrally located and very clean. The pool was clean and well maintained, and having cameras around felt good for safety and security. We’d arranged in advance for our parents to join us for two nights, and staff made sure they were welcomed while we were at Jeep Invasion. Nothing was too much trouble. When we wanted to come back, the desk staff showed us other options, again without making anything difficult. If you have a choice, choose this place.

Our experience with Daytona Inn was terrible. My daughter left her AirPods behind, and staff confirmed they had found them and left them at the front desk. Since we live two hours away, I asked whether we could pay to have them mailed to us. After that, they ignored every attempt to reach them for more than two weeks. When I finally got through, the manager, Sherry, told me the AirPods had been given to the owner, John Donio, to mail out weeks earlier. I sent several follow-up emails and was ghosted again. I felt this pointed to dishonesty or outright theft by the owner. Either way, the customer service was disgraceful. If they handle lost property this way, I can’t imagine how they treat guests during a stay. I’d tell people to stay somewhere else. Update (9/19): My daughter’s AirPods were eventually returned, and I do want to thank them for that. It was still an extremely frustrating process, with no communication. They only came back after I tracked down the owner on social media, and even then I got no response. I appreciate that the AirPods were returned in the end, but it’s a shame it took so long and so much effort from me. I genuinely wish Daytona Inn well and hope they improve their customer service.

We loved our first stay here in 2019. The room was spotless, had plenty of space, and was perfect for us. Our cleaning lady went above and beyond every day. We came back a few years later, and the difference was awful. The floors had streaks of dirt from mopping, there was menstrual blood on the bathroom wall, and the small couch was stained, so we covered it with our own blankets and wouldn’t let anyone sleep on it. The bedroom smelled so strongly of mildew that after we got home I had to wash even the clean clothes and our bags to get rid of the smell. The AC was only in the bedroom, so we had to leave it running to cool the whole apartment. I watched the cleaners mop with dirty water from the pool area, and the beds were never changed, so we slept with sand every night. By evening we felt so filthy we didn’t even want to sit there. We were so disappointed after loving that first visit, but we won’t be back.
