Shalimar Resort

The beach is right next door, and the pool was clean and heated. Staff at reception and housekeeping were really lovely. Our two-full/queen-size bedroom was clean, though a bit small and dated. The towels could use an update, but we were fine since we brought our own. We also enjoyed Sal’s pizzeria, with great pizza, wings, and cannolis. A really nice hotel.

The service was great and our room was clean, though it could use some upgrades. It’s close to the beach. If you’re there with a small child, keep an eye on the pool gate. People weren’t latching it when they went in or out, so I had to stay on guard with my little guy.

Our two outside chairs were broken. I mentioned the one in the worst condition, and maintenance swapped it for a small, hard wooden chair meant for indoors. When I asked at the desk about another option, they said there weren’t any spare chairs. It might help to keep a few extras around for situations like that. The staff were friendly and helpful, especially the two ladies who cleaned our room, and we had a nice stay.

After we’d checked out following a full week at the Shalimar in Wildwood, NJ, we found mold all over the pullout sofa. My seven-year-old had slept on it the whole time. That’s a serious health concern, especially for a child, and I’m very disappointed that hotel staff didn’t catch or address it. A routine inspection could have prevented this. I contacted the hotel, but all I got was an apology, with no compensation or meaningful solution. Given what we paid and the trust we put in this property, that was unacceptable. I hope management takes cleanliness and guest safety more seriously.
