Suitcase Motel & Travel

We paid a lot, and for $800-$1000 for 3-4 people over a beach weekend, you could apparently get a beachfront place with an efficiency for the same amount. Our booking only covered two people, and we had to pay extra for the others. When we questioned how expensive the added charge was compared with other places, we were told, “Well what are you going to do leave? You’re already here.” That didn’t feel welcoming. The room smelled musty as soon as we opened the door, and we weren’t sure we wanted to walk barefoot on the floors. The building was very old. The pool wasn’t heated, and the chairs around it were old and worn. There was vomit on the bathroom wall and dried on the toilet paper when we arrived, which made us question how clean the place was. The rules were explained several times at check-in and posted on the room walls, which felt excessive for adults. I understand having rules, but this came across as stern. I wouldn’t recommend it or book again.

The rooms weren’t clean, and the bathrooms were disgusting. The amount we paid felt outrageous for the quality, which I don’t think is worth more than $100 a night, and even that’s generous. Arrival paperwork was excessive, and the rules felt unreasonable. My brother-in-law was staying at another motel, but he was told he couldn’t even stand outside our room while we got ready for the beach. A little woman rushed out of the office and treated him like a criminal, telling him to stand in the parking lot. The man handling the grounds was very nice, but kind of creepy. He followed us around and made things awkward. Next time we’ll plan ahead and pay the same rate for a much cleaner, friendlier motel.

The place was quiet, the room was clean and smelled good, and the pool was nice. It’s small and cute, with plants all over, well kept by Bob, who was very friendly too. He made our beds every day and is a sweetheart. Majura was amazing: sweet, kind, funny, very informative, and incredibly thorough. She even told us about events in the area. The continental breakfast was cute and small. Better beds would be the main thing to change, but the location put us in the middle of everything. We’ll be back for a vacation in the near future.

My two young grandchildren and I were so grateful for the welcoming, calming hospitality after a terrible experience at a neighboring hotel. We were found a room here late at night. They run a tight ship, and our room was a great size for the three of us and very clean, with an old-time feel. I can’t thank them enough for taking us in and for the time they took to send us off at the end of our vacation. Thanks!!!!❤️
