I’d avoid the Days Inn in Willcox. The room was grimy, with scuff marks everywhere, cracks and holes in the bathroom floor, dusty surfaces, and mildew. Cockroaches were actually crawling around, which wasn’t surprising given how poorly sealed the doors were. The sheets had hair and dirt on them, and who knows what else. After seeing the other reviews, I just hoped there were no bedbugs. The so-called non-smoking room smelled of cigarette smoke, and there were open, used sugar packets at the coffee station, as if left by a previous guest. Breakfast was awful: the bagel was hard as a rock and could double as a weapon, and the sausages were so dried out even my dog didn’t really want them. We let the water run for about 10 minutes and still had no hot water. It looked like a toddler, or very underpaid staff, had tried to clean the place in ten minutes. I’d stay away at all costs. Reply to owner: Thanks for proving my point with your response. The desk clerk never told us our animals couldn’t be in the lobby of a pet hotel, so using that against us now is unprofessional and misleading. The room’s condition spoke for itself. Saying there were no holes doesn’t erase what we saw and experienced. Instead of acting like a keyboard warrior in the review section, why not address the issues at your property? There’s clearly more than one. Guests shouldn’t have to “report” every obvious cleanliness and maintenance problem for a room to meet basic standards. Your first instinct was to argue with a customer instead of taking criticism professionally, and that says more than my review ever could. What my dog eats is none of your business, by the way! Final Response: I’m done wasting time corresponding with you, but I’m going to post my review on the Days Inn website.

There’s plenty of open parking, even if you’re towing a trailer, and the grocery store and pizza restaurant are an easy walk across the parking lot. We had a pet, and there was ample space to walk the dog. Our non-smoking King room was clean, smelled good, and was very spacious, with a large bathroom counter and plenty of soap, lotion, shampoo, and conditioner. Breakfast was generous, with eggs, sausage, bagels, yogurt, biscuits, and gravy. The one downside was arriving early, at 1:30 pm. We understand the strict no-early-check-in policy, but the staff person was rude, pointed to the 3 pm check-in sign, and told us to leave and come back then. Everyone else was super nice. Aside from that, it was a very good Days Inn.

We checked in, found what looked like bedbugs on the mattress, and went straight back to tell the clerk we wouldn’t stay. She said a refund required emailing the manager, which we did, then we called the manager in the morning. She said we wouldn’t get a refund because we had used the room, and noted we’d been there 36 minutes from check-in to check-out. Her exterminator examined the mattresses and said the black things weren’t bedbugs. Still, no refund because we’d used the room.

The road is louder than the trains, and I’d suggest staying across town at Rosie’s motel or the Arizona sunset instead. This place is dirty and doesn’t seem to have been cleaned in a long time. The showers never get hot. The reviews say the owners tell people to let the water run for 10 minutes, but even after 20 minutes it still never got hot.

After a long drive across multiple time zones, we arrived just 15 minutes past midnight and found the lobby unattended. We had to ring the outside bell repeatedly before someone finally came out and told us our reservation had been canceled because we hadn’t arrived by midnight. I’d booked online several days earlier, but there was no mention of a strict cutoff during booking, no follow-up message, and no courtesy call to confirm our arrival, which many hotels do for late check-ins. Canceling a fully paid reservation over a 15-minute delay, without trying to contact the guest, is unreasonable and unacceptable when the policy was never clearly communicated. The staff also refused a refund. I tried to speak with the manager, Jamie, but she was dismissive, wouldn’t listen, and showed no understanding or compassion. I escalated the issue through Wyndham customer service, but she still refused to make it right. This showed a complete lack of customer care, flexibility, and basic courtesy. Be cautious booking here if you might arrive later in the evening.
