Rose's Motel

The owner is second-generation, and Shelly and her husband are wonderful. The rooms and beds are comfortable, with lots and lots of pillows, and the hot shower works really well. There’s a beautiful sunset view from the patio. Out back, there are barbecue grills in the gazebo, plus plenty of seating and chairs with ashtrays around the place for smokers. People in town are so nice and laid-back. If you want to avoid rooms right off the highways with hairy pillows, bugs, or dirty bathtubs, check out roses motel. I promise you won’t be disappointed.

At night it was quiet, and the location worked well for visiting the Chiricuhua National Monument or going bird watching nearby. In January and February, there are thousands of sandhill cranes in the area. The motel has an old-time charm, with individual touches in each room, and it was exceptionally clean. Our room had a microwave and refrigerator. Shelly and her husband were always available for questions and advice, and they were very effective and friendly.

There’s a pretty back patio, and the staff were very helpful and accommodating. I found the place too budget for my taste, though, with a bare-bones room: no coffee pot, hair dryer, or mini fridge. The table was very small, so food prep would’ve been hard. Most of all, there wasn’t an acceptable place to sit, and I needed to do a tiny bit of work. The bed and bedding were fine, and the shower and water pressure were great. The location was fine, but there was some noise from the road and old heater system. I wouldn’t pay over $60 to stay here.

The room was small, though that was only a minor inconvenience since I didn’t spend much time in it. I slept well and really liked the motel’s relaxed ambience. The rooms were nice and clean, and the beds very comfortable. I would’ve liked one more towel and washcloth.
