Motel 6 Williams, AZ - Downtown - Grand Canyon

Parking was convenient, and checking out early was easy since we could just drop the keys in a box. The rest wasn’t great. The room was cold, the heat didn’t work well, and we even found hair in the supposedly fresh sheets. I wouldn’t pick this place again.

We booked two rooms for two couples. In one, the bed sheets, pillows, and sheets were dirty, with dirt and hair on them. We had to ask twice for clean ones and then made the bed ourselves. The other room smelled so bad that even after mopping, the couple could only sleep with the windows open. The staff were impolite and ridiculously unhelpful. They blamed us and said we had to deal with it. It was a very bad stay, and I’d tell people to avoid this motel even for one night. The hotel replies to bad reviews sound understanding, but they’re just empty words.

We arrived at Motel 6 Williams Downtown Grand Canyon, 620 W Route 66, Williams, AZ 86046, on December 4, 2025, for a planned stay through December 12, with two rooms. Neither room had hot water. My husband was on a hunting trip and had to take cold showers for several days. When I asked the front desk, a staff member wearing a medical mask said other guests had reported the same problem and the owner had been notified. Someone was supposedly being sent to repair the water heaters, but guests hadn’t been told about the issue before arrival. I asked what compensation we’d get for a basic amenity we had paid for. The staff member had no answer and said they’d contact the owner. They promised a follow-up call, but none came. Over the next few days we also saw black mold on the bathroom ceiling and bugs in the rooms, had intermittent internet outages, and noticed a strong bleach-like smell whenever we used the sink or shower. It seemed likely they were trying to mask or treat other problems. Another staff member later told me the manager was consulting corporate about compensation. Again, no promised call. I said I’d report the issues to the Arizona Department of Health Services (AZDHS), Coconino County Environmental Health Agency, and the Better Business Bureau, dispute the charges, and post honest reviews with evidence if I didn’t hear back within 24 hours. No one contacted us in that time, and our group was starting to feel unwell, so we left early for health and safety reasons. Nobody from the motel has contacted us or addressed the concerns since. The lack of hot water, visible mold, pests, and poor communication made the stay hazardous and uncomfortable, well below basic accommodation standards. I strongly advise travelers to avoid the property until these maintenance and management issues are resolved. I have photos and recordings of the conditions and conversations.

They took payment before telling us the pool and hot tub were closed. Online listings said $40 a night, but the actual rate was $70. I showed them my AAA booking receipt and was told they don’t accept AAA. There was no fridge, microwave, or coffee in the room. They only put out coffee until 10 a.m., then shut it down. Housekeeping woke us at 9:30 even though checkout was 11, then came knocking again at 10:30 while we were packing. Worst Motel 6 I’ve stayed at. Don’t book here.
