They didn't warn us about the $200 deposit hold. Update: they eventually called two days later to ask about our stay, but seemed not to care that things were broken. I wish I could give this zero stars. We've stayed here once before and it was fabulous, but this visit left a lot to be desired. After check-in, they basically blocked the door and said I couldn't leave until I spoke with the concierge about their timeshare pitch. It felt like bullying. The room was in awful shape. The lamp nearest the bathroom only worked when you were asleep, then flickered. The dresser drawers opened on their own when you walked by. The hook on the bathroom door was coming off, and the bathroom light fixture was barely attached to the wall by its wires. If you're over 5'5, you'll have to duck to get under the shower water. In the kitchen, the toaster only toasted one side of the bread, the stove had painted patches covering rust, and the fridge was rusty too. The table looked so dirty I felt I could've let a child eat there and walk away, and it probably would've been cleaner. We told them about all of this and were told management would contact me. I still haven't heard from them.

The location is great and the grounds are beautiful, and the room itself was great. They even upgraded us for free from a one-bedroom to a two-bedroom, which was very nice. But the last two nights were hell. We were in a ground-floor unit in the two-level condo, and the people above us stomped around like elephants until 3:00 am both nights. The soundproofing is terrible. I tried calling the front desk, but the computerized phone system kept routing me around and I couldn't reach anyone. Don't book the ground floor unless you don't care about sleep. We're never going back.

For what I paid, this was a great deal, and I'd stay again. I came away impressed by how well maintained everything was, even though the finishings are a bit dated. It was spotless when I arrived and very peaceful, with scenic natural grounds. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful, and the location was convenient for shopping, restaurants, and the interstate. I drove to Hampton each day, an easy half-hour commute. I've never stayed at a Hilton vacation club before, so I wasn't sure what to expect. It's like a little neighborhood with all kinds of outdoor activities. My room was really a two-bedroom apartment, with two full bathrooms, a washer and dryer, a furnished sunroom, and a deck with furniture. The kitchen had all the major appliances, plus a coffee maker and toaster.

We were here for four nights over Christmas, from the 24th to the 28th last week. The apartment was okay, but clearly older and not updated. Hot water ran out after 8-10 minutes in the shower, so two people couldn't shower at the same time or one right after the other. The internet was mediocre at best and kept cutting out, even after they said they'd fixed it. We could smell cooking from the apartment below, which wasn't pleasant. The $28.00 per night resort fee didn't feel worth it. I probably wouldn't stay again.

We just came back from a two-week vacation here and stayed in a three-bedroom suite. It had a bedroom on every floor, with two twin beds on the top floor, plus a pullout couch on the second floor. There was a full washer and dryer, a big closet, and plenty of room. We never heard the neighbors. If you're into the paranormal, Virginia Paranormal Occurrence runs great ghost-hunting tours in the manor house. David and Geri explain the property's history, then let you use their equipment afterward. We took the tour several times and loved it every time.
