Vacation Village in the Berkshires

We liked the forest view from our room, and the hot plate worked well for breakfast or warming leftovers. The full-size fridge had an ice maker, and while there wasn’t a dishwasher, the drying rack made dishes easy to manage. The indoor pool was enjoyable, and having a vending machine in the game room was handy. Check-in had a decent line, but there were enough employees working hard to keep it moving. Nice location and amenities, and we’d come back.

We stayed for a week in July and again in February, but wouldn’t use our timeshare here again or return for a longer visit. The units need major updating, with soft spots in the floors, very thin walls and ceilings, and uncomfortable beds. We heard everything from above, including kids jumping on beds until well after midnight, and quiet hours weren’t enforced. We were glad we’d brought an air mattress. The sofa bed was especially uncomfortable, with a mattress maybe three inches thick and bars you could feel through it. The room was only okay for cleanliness, and for the price they could do better. Both TVs were missing batteries, and there was no silverware at first, though the front desk fixed that within a few hours. The pool was good in the morning and during the day, but by evening it needed attention, with hair, bandages, and hair ties floating in it. The hot tub was out of service for a day. Pool and changing-room towels were provided. For just a night or two, it might be okay, but for a week I’d try for one of the recently updated units. We stayed in buildings 11 and 2.

We didn’t spend much time in the room, so the rocky hill view wasn’t a big issue, though anyone who cares about the view should ask the front desk. We even heard an owl at night, which was a nice bonus. The room was large and the bed very comfortable. There’s a full kitchen if you want to cook, but no restaurant on site, so you’ll need to go elsewhere for food. Hot water may run out depending on how many people are using it. I tried the hot tub, but couldn’t close its drain. I didn’t mention it, though they probably would have looked into it if I had.

After more than 15 years as an owner, I want to give my deed back and be done with this resort. It’s paid off, and I pay maintenance fees every other year, but I’ve called and left messages with guest services about my ownership for over a week without hearing back. I’ve put too much money into this place over the years to be ignored when I ask for a return call. The resort has gone downhill. With all the other complaints about upkeep, I have to wonder what the maintenance fees are paying for.
