We arrived to find a fresh-smelling, super clean room, including the bathroom, with comfortable beds, unstained linens, and a lovely view through the big picture window. The internet was the best I’ve ever had at a hotel or motel. They even upgraded us to a free room, which was a really happy surprise. The staff called that morning to ask when we’d arrive, so they could have the room at a comfortable temperature and ready to welcome us. We felt safe and appreciated how quiet the property was. After several inexpensive hotels on our drive from Portland, Maine, to Albany, New York, this Williamstown Motel was a breath of fresh air compared with our previous stop. As a travel agent, I’d happily recommend and book clients here. It’s a great value with wonderful accommodations, and people shouldn’t pass it up just because chain hotels are also in town. This family business is fantastic, and it’ll be our first choice if we’re back in the area. Thank you!

Rocky, the owner, made the stay special by welcoming me warmly, suggesting restaurants, offering a small discount at a couple of places with the key fob, and explaining the best way to drive to Greylock. The room was small but just right for me on my own. It isn’t fancy, and the dresser could use replacing, though who really unpacks their clothes anyway 😉. Still, the place seemed clean and well cared for, and the AC appeared fairly new and worked well. Dogs are allowed for a small daily fee. There are sidewalks, so walking them along Main Street seems manageable. The Williamstown Theatre Festival is only 1.3 miles away, theoretically walkable. I liked being on the other side of Williamstown on Main Street, where it felt more open. A small strip mall with Mexican and Korean/Japanese restaurants is about 500 feet away on foot. The other direction has a diner and a Greek/pizza place, though you’d want a car for those. It’s been a nice affordable option for me while attending the theatre festival.

Rocky was a great host. He spent time with us from the start and shared helpful suggestions for restaurants and things to do. I’d recommend staying here.

This was $147 for little more than a place to sleep and watch TV. There was no fridge, coffee maker, microwave, or phone to call the office, and I had to bring my own toiletries. No hair conditioner either. I needed ice to keep my dogs’ food cold and saw an ice bucket, but the office was unattended for hours, so I couldn’t find out whether there was ice. That would also be a problem if you needed to keep essential medication cold. It’s pet friendly, but there’s nowhere to walk your dog. They said RV parking was available, then told me to park across the street, far from my belongings, and there wasn’t even room for a small RV. Who called this place excellent? I shouldn’t have paid more than $60, and that’s being generous.

The room was clean and spacious, and we could park right in front of it. It met our needs, and the location was convenient for Williams College and other local attractions. The owner was helpful with restaurant suggestions. Still, calling it luxury in the tagline seems odd for a basic motel. I’d give the room four stars for what it is, but only three for service. No one could be found on checkout day, and although there was a phone number posted at the front desk, nobody answered. We didn’t know what else to do, so we left the key on the desk. It felt like a ghost town, and I’m not sure what we’d have done if we’d had an urgent question or need.
