Roosevelt Hotel

The room smelled strongly of mildew, and the bed was so uncomfortable I had to sleep with my head at the foot to get even a little comfortable. It felt like an air mattress, with springs sticking out of the side. The sheets were stained or unclean, I couldn't tell which, and there were dirty Q-tips on the bed frame.

The owners and staff were polite, but that was the only good part. The price is now $95 plus tax, and the room wasn't worth it. The bed left my back hurting badly the next morning. I used to think of this as a decent cheap place for a night alone, but the room was disgusting and clearly not clean. If I'd seen everything the night before, I wouldn't have stayed. Something has changed.

We slept well on a comfortable bed, and the motel was quiet with good staff. Breakfast had the usual choices, including eggs, bacon, sausage, waffles, bread, bagels, and yogurt, plus great coffee. The place has three floors in many parts and could use a little TLC. I'd stay again.

The good chocolate chip cookies at check-in were a nice touch, and despite all the construction workers staying there, it was pretty quiet. My room mixed nice furniture with damaged, dirty walls, and the coffee pot looked like it had spit on it. At the desk, India music videos were playing. I was handed an electronic registration pad, but the receptionist had scrolled past some fields, so after I entered my vehicle details and submitted, it sent me back to fill in the rest. He got impatient while I did that.
