Hampton Inn & Suites Wilmington/Wrightsville Beach

The hotel was in a great spot, quiet and tucked away from highway traffic. Nearby stores and neighborhoods weren’t noisy either, and there was even a walking trail running beside the hotel. The staff were extremely courteous and made sure I had what I needed. My room was clean, with fresh linen on the bed and clean towels each day.

The breakfast staff were especially friendly and courteous, and deserve recognition. I’d recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a quiet, comfortable place to relax. At check-in, I was given a different room from the one I booked and staff tried to charge me to upgrade. They did sort the mix-up out, but it shouldn’t have happened in the first place. The hotel itself was very nice.

The location was nice, and I expect the pool will be great once it opens, but the stay had several problems. I’d paid a little extra beyond the credit card points I had to use this hotel’s pool, and only learned from a sign at the front desk that it was closed. We could use a nearby hotel’s pool, but that was still inconvenient, and I hadn’t seen the closure mentioned on the website when researching hotels. Check-in also felt unfriendly and bare-bones. The man asked for ID, found my reservation and handed us keys, with little else said to us. A few minutes later, I saw him being warm and friendly with another guest. In our room, two pillows seemed to be small decorative inserts inside full-size pillowcases. The shampoo and body wash bottles were empty, and the shower ceiling vent looked either very dusty or moldy, hard to tell. I’d also suggest a larger trash can.

Just stayed one night. The room was clean and quiet, and breakfast had good options for people eating low carb, including hard-boiled eggs and sausage. Since this is NC, TX Pete sauce was there too!
