The worst part was how little service there was. I texted management about the problems and got back, “geesh, that doesnt make sense.” Nobody checked anything or followed up. One room’s keypad, used to enter and lock the room, didn’t work. I reported it and have the texts to prove it, but no one came to look or got back to me. The walls are paper thin, so I spent the evenings hearing people trudging above me. The bed was stiffer than the retired battleship across the river. Furniture was lightweight, more suited to a dorm room than what I expected. The freezer could make ice, but its basket held a solid block that looked like ice had melted and frozen back together over years. The K-Cup machine seemed unable to make more than 2 or 3 ozs at a time. Instagram experts can make an average place look beautiful, and that’s definitely what happened with the Hive. If you want no service, cheap furniture and loud neighbors, this is the hotel for you. I feel generous giving it 2 stars.

Being able to park once and explore on foot was so convenient. The Hive is right in downtown Wilmington, NC, with lots of restaurants, bars and shops within walking distance. Our room was spacious, with a living room and kitchen, and felt more like a stylish studio apartment. The modern ambience was cool, and the shower was amazing. We loved our stay and would come back 100%.

Downtown Wilmington and all its shops were just minutes away, and we found the riverfront had more shops than we could get to. It was a great area for walking our dog, and parking was very convenient. The room at The Hive was beautiful and modern. Thanks for such a pleasant place to stay!

We’ve stayed here a number of times for camp drop off and pick ups, and we love it. The Hive is quiet and small, with clean, spacious rooms and lots within walking distance. Booking is easy, there’s zero contact, and the directions for coming and going are simple. Always a perfect place to stay when we’re in Wilmington.
