Holiday Inn Express & Suites Wilson-Downtown by IHG

We came to town for a family event, and the hotel was in a nice area with lots of stores around. Andre was amazing when he helped us check in and out, and he fixed our room issue immediately. The rooms and facility were very clean. Breakfast was hot and had a good selection. I was definitely pleased with the stay.

I booked through Hotels.com and was quoted one rate, but Holiday Inn charged me more when I paid at the hotel. Holiday Inn Express management said the hotel has different rates for on-site payment and that I should have booked through its website. Hotels.com told me the rate was up to the hotel. I feel like I was scammed out of $25, and I suspect most people don’t say anything. It was open house at ECU, so just be aware. Very disappointing.

I paid online for a nonrefundable stay, but they charged me $50 more when I got there. I travel a lot and have never had another hotel charge my card again or add money after I paid online. When I tried to explain that, the man got snappy, so I did too. He acted like he knew how every hotel works and even tried to refuse my stay. People ahead of me were also having trouble checking in, so it clearly wasn’t just me. I had booked and paid for a suite with a jetted tub, but that wasn’t what I got. I didn’t go downstairs to complain because, after the argument, I didn’t want to risk being kicked out. The guy checking me in asked how I’d gone from smiling when I walked in to being upset. Well, you’d just charged me extra, and nowhere online said there’d be another fee. This hotel is a joke. I’d never stay again. If the booking hadn’t been nonrefundable, I would’ve gone somewhere else.

Shanita, Bernita, and Andre were all so welcoming and nice during my stay. I really enjoyed the hospitality, and the breakfast was good too.
