Blair House Inn

We arrived to find the fireplace already going, along with wine and delicious chocolate-covered strawberries. The bed was amazing, and we loved the peaceful setting at Blair House Inn. My husband and I spent a night in the San Gabriel cottage for our 41st anniversary. We thoroughly enjoyed it and plan to come back.

After more than 20 years of sending my wife to the cooking school or attending with her, and seeing the owners change, this past week's visit was extremely disappointing. Communication was poor, our room wasn't functioning properly, and the cooking school experience fell short. The room's TV and fireplace didn't work. There was no evening wine or dessert, which had been traditional, and students no longer received the binder with the schedule and recipes. The restaurant food was poor. It used to be a sought-after place where reservations were needed. The decking felt weak and soft, and maintenance around the property isn't being done. The invoice also included a 20% gratuity without asking us. We didn't pay it. I used to recommend Blair House to dozens of couples as a favorite destination. I no longer do. This is a place to avoid.

We used to be big fans of Blair House Inn, and stayed there for our honeymoon. If you knew it before the sale, I think you'll be disappointed by what's become of it. The quality has fallen badly, the old charm is gone, and everything feels cost-cutting and fake to me. The new owner was nice until we had a complaint, then came across as vindictive. Dealing with an owner or manager has never been this bad for me. I expect she'll respond to this review with a made-up cover story, as I think has happened with other negative reviews. RIP to the OG Blair House.

My husband and I chose The Blair House Inn for an anniversary escape from city life, and I'm so glad we did. It's in the Hill Country near Wimberly,TX, about 2 1/2 hours from Houston, and the scenery is beautiful. The property is huge, romantic, cozy, and full of lovely ambience, with fireplaces too. The staff and owner provided some of the best hospitality and service I've experienced. The cottages, food, and attention to detail were excellent. We booked a package with three freshly prepared meals a day plus afternoon coffee and a snack. The Spa package was unbelievable. There's also a lovely deck and pool, a sauna, and a hiking trail. You can come just to relax even without a package. This place is all about wellness and unwinding. I'd give it 10 stars if I could, and it'll definitely be my go-to for a quick recharge.
