Relax Inn & Suites

The biggest letdown was how poorly things were kept up. The sink was cracked, pipes stuck out of the wall, furniture seemed to have been moved around and damaged things, and the ranch dressing a child spilled in the lobby was still there when we checked out. The outside honestly looks like a horror movie. We asked the front desk for four towels for our family of four. The woman seemed to think that was too many, and after asking twice we waited over an hour and got only two, even though we were the only guests. The beds were advertised as kings but were queen sized. We ended up at Relax Inn after last-minute camper trouble. With the State vs. UGA game on that weekend, it was the only place within 50 miles of Starkville with decent rates. Inside, the room was nicer than I expected from the exterior. The A/C worked well, the water was hot, and the weekend price was fair. It’s a small family-run place trying to make ends meet, but a little more care with cleanliness and service would go a long way.

This was the only hotel with a room when I stayed that morning. I went next door to McDonald’s, then came back and saw two cockroaches on the floor. The front desk called them water bugs. I don’t think so.

The rooms are clean, the bed is comfy, and the price is good. But when it’s 85-90 degrees outside and the rooms face the sun, they should start the AC before guests arrive. I’ve been here over an hour and the room is still 85 degrees. I’m sweating.
