Residence Inn by Marriott Boston Woburn Hotel

On a later 10-day business trip, I finally got to try breakfast. The choices changed from day to day: scrambled eggs, sometimes pork sausage or bacon, and other items. They also had biscuits and gravy a few times, a good range of muffins, and fruit cups, which I don’t usually see at other Residence Inn locations. The front desk team was great, and they even helped me find a nice Italian bakery for some delicious treats. My one issue was that the Wi-Fi suddenly dropped to about 10% of the speed I’d been getting before. I first stayed for a week in late June and really liked the room layout, apart from a couple of small things. A lamp on the desk would’ve been nice, though I did appreciate having a proper shower stall instead of a tub and shower combo. The hotel is just minutes from I-93 and I-95, with food options farther south in Woburn and a nearby Target for groceries and supplies. I’m looking forward to more trips around North Reading and Woburn, and would stay here again.

The bathroom was clean, though it could use a facelift soon. The small exercise room was clean too, and both treadmills I tried worked fine. My room was quiet and clean, the staff were friendly, and breakfast was great. Finally, a Residence Inn with real eggs, bacon, and fresh fruit instead of powdered or liquid eggs. This is the best Marriott I’ve stayed at around Burlington, Bedford, and Woburn.

Parking can be tight, especially while checking in, and there’s no covered drive-in area. Still, the service was great, the space was clean, and breakfast had plenty of variety. The kids had a blast, and I’d certainly stay again.

I rely on reviews when picking hotels, so I’m sharing our experience for anyone planning a group stay. I organize large bookings often, and as an event designer and frequent traveler, I was shocked by how little hospitality or flexibility we encountered. We were ready to book more than 10 rooms for a holiday weekend for 20 to 30 people. The hotel wouldn’t offer any group discount, not even a basic courtesy adjustment. They also tried to charge $1,000 for a small function room that seats around 40, with no flexibility or willingness to work with us. One guest was quoted $1,200 for four days, which seemed extremely overpriced for this kind of property. I didn’t expect this from a Marriott property, even one of its 3-star brands. The service, prices, and experience were nowhere near Marriott standards. Given the unreasonable pricing and unwillingness to accommodate a large, loyal group, I immediately told everyone to cancel. Imagine how much business they lost. We took our business elsewhere. If you care about fair prices and professional service, or are arranging a group stay, reunion, or family gathering, I strongly recommend choosing another hotel. This property doesn’t value guest loyalty or group business, and I wouldn’t book here again.
