Mount-N-Lake Motel

We went two days without blankets. When I asked the manager for some, she said the four she had were already being used and told us to use the heater. On day two she said there was a pile of dirty blankets. I guess she was too lazy to do laundry. It was 30 degrees outside. We had a flat sheet and an old bedspread, but no blankets. Water pressure was low, and there was nowhere to hang clothes.

A quiet, clean, and comfortable enough motel for the price. Nothing weird going on, just a peaceful neighborhood. It’s really old-fashioned, which is kind of fun, but it’s been updated reasonably well. I’d stay here again.

Sitting in the park at night to look at the stars was a highlight. It’s across from the motel and has BBQ grills and playground equipment. There’s a fairly nice lake view, and it felt safe in the area even after dark. Parking right outside our room was convenient, and the picnic tables made it easy to eat outside and enjoy the park view. The refrigerator was a good size, though one of the two in our room didn’t work properly. There were several things that needed attention inside. The floor was dirty, so we bought our own wet Swiffer to mop it, and the stove hadn’t been cleaned. The storage space underneath it was also dirty, with some questionable things in it. The mattress cover had stains. In the bathroom, there was nowhere to put toiletries, and the sink was much too low. The single small towel bar only held two bath towels, while the hand towel and washcloth were in the kitchen. The door’s deadbolt didn’t line up well with the frame, so we had to jiggle the door to get it to catch. Most disappointing, I’d spoken with someone beforehand and was told the pet fee would be waived. At arrival, we were charged cash and given a handwritten receipt.

Our deluxe room had a lot going for it, including a large bathroom and a full kitchen with a small fridge, microwave, electric stove, and coffee maker. It could have been a great stay, but we found roaches, both small and big, mostly dead. They need to do a better job with cleaning and maintenance. The neighborhood was otherwise nice, and having a public park right in front is a plus if you have kids.
