Holiday Inn Express Sacramento Airport Woodland by IHG

Breakfast service fell short, and the room didn’t have the organized setup I’m used to at other renovated HIX hotels on my recent trips between Tacoma and Los Angeles. The furniture and towels were worn, the outlets were loose, and the TV didn’t work. The coffee maker was in an awkward spot too.

The pool and hot tub were the feature I was looking forward to, but they need to be shut down, drained, and cleaned. The hot tub water was brown and smelled disgusting, while the pool was dirty and ice cold. The bedding and towels were poor quality compared with other Holiday Inn Express hotels. My shower curtain was torn, the desk chair was coming apart, and the hallway hadn’t been cleaned. This doesn’t meet the usual standard. Avoid this hotel.

The room was very clean, and the staff were kind and helpful. It’s just off the 5 Fwy, near lots of shops. There’s a pool and exercise room, and we went to a nearby park in the morning to play pickleball. Breakfast did the job. I’d stay again.

The place was decent, but the fire alarm woke us at about 5:45 in the morning, twice. It was likely an accident before continental breakfast, but we’d traveled from another time zone, so that was the middle of the night for us. Nobody apologized or said anything about the loud wake-up, which put me off. At least I know the alarms work. If there’s a fire, they’ll wake you.
