I was here on a work trip. The front desk staff were friendly and sympathetic, but management seemed nonexistent. We went two days without hot water, and the linens had stains that looked like feces or blood from the previous guest and hadn't been changed. The location was awful too, beside a shady motel, with people actively using drugs in the field between the properties. Avoid this place.

I’d only suggest this for a cheap one-night stop. We had trouble getting into the room because the door jammed every time, and the manager said it was a known problem, but guests were still being put there. The vending machine made a lot of noise, and the drinks were warm. The floors were dirty too. Getting help wasn’t easy. My key wouldn’t open the pool area, and when I went to the front desk, nobody was there. I could hear someone in the back. When they finally came out, they didn’t apologize or acknowledge the wait. Staff also seemed standoffish throughout, with no greetings or smiles. At breakfast, chairs were up on the tables, so it was unclear and uncomfortable to sit there. The lobby only has two chairs, both pointed away from the entrance toward the fireplace, which made the place feel even less welcoming. There were too many problems for a comfortable stay. For more than one night, I’d stay elsewhere.

The room worked well for what we needed. It was clean, the shower got hot, and the staff were friendly. A couple of spots showed wear, but that seemed normal for the price, and I’d stay again. I tried breakfast near the end of its serving window and wasn’t impressed. I’d been a little concerned after reading other reviews, but my experience was good.

Our new home in Woodstock, Ill wasn’t ready on schedule, and finding somewhere to stay for a short while was tough. I ended up at the AmericInn for two months, and Bob the owner, his brother Dazy, and the whole staff were great and helpful. They kept my room clean, and the coffee and breakfasts were always hot and fresh. Every morning they greeted me with a smile and wished me a good day. That made it easier to start the day and deal with the work left on our house. If you need a nice place in the Woodstock area with good people running it, check them out.
