Holiday Inn Columbus N - I-270 Worthington

My first stay was great: clean, roomy king room, polite staff, and no problems. I missed breakfast, then came back a couple of days later. That second visit was a different story. I went through three rooms. One had a broken shower curtain rod, rust in the tub, and a refrigerator full of melted ice. The next had dirty sheets. I was exhausted by the time I got to the third, so I stayed despite the toilet flushing itself every hour all night and the dirty bathtub. I figured I probably wouldn’t get a refund anyway, and at checkout I didn’t even want to talk to anyone. The staff made that stay bearable, but between the first visit being a 5 and the second a 3, my rating is an average. I won’t return if double rooms are all they have.

The room was decent and the staff were good, and I managed to get breakfast without waiting even though the breakfast room was crowded all the time. The main problem was the noise from lots of kids late at night. I know that’s not the hotel’s fault, but it did seem to draw families with young children. Wi-Fi in my room was slow too, though usable. It could’ve been much better.

I found the room’s toilet tiny, and the bathroom door was right up against it. The sink and shower water got so hot I had to watch out for burns. On the useful side, there was a coffee maker, microwave, and mini fridge, which helped during my three-night stay. The hotel is older and has a strange layout, but it was clean and looked after. It has the basics, including free Wi-Fi, a gym, and pool. Breakfast costs extra, it isn’t included. The staff were friendly, though they had some trouble getting my receipt to me. The restaurant on site looked so gloomy that I skipped it. I heard the building may be torn down soon, which might explain the maintenance problems I noticed. A decent place, but nothing special.

It took us a few minutes to work out that the hotel entrance is on the second floor, and the front desk hadn’t mentioned it. The building is large, so our spacious room was also a little hard to locate. The hotel isn’t new, but the renovations and upgrades gave it a modern feel, and the facilities were quite nice. Staff were friendly, and it’s conveniently located about a two-minute drive south of I-270.
