La Quinta Inn & Suites By Wyndham Wytheville

The room was clean and comfortable, and check-in was friendly and quick. The breakfast had scrambled eggs, sausage, a waffle maker, cereal, yogurt, sliced bread, bagels, and small muffins. I used Wyndham reward points, but this didn't quite meet LaQuinta standards, and rates should really be lower while the hotel is being remodeled. There were no wastebaskets in the room or bathroom. The desk chair had no working lamp bulb, while the standing lamp had no chair beside it. There was no luggage rack or bench either. They had Dove soap and shampoo, but no conditioner or lotion. A bit disappointing.

I left, and the front desk kindly refunded me right away without any trouble. They are remodeling, and I tried to keep an open mind, but the place was too dirty for me to stay. The elevator had dirt in the tracks, smears on its walls, and a filthy floor. The mess continued into the second-floor hallway. My room looked clean on the surface, but there was dust on the bathroom Kleenex box and dirt stains on the duvet and chair. When I checked under the bedding, the mattress protector was yellowed, shredded, and disgusting. Some parts of the ceiling were gray too. I couldn't stomach sleeping in that bed.

The staff were friendly, and my room was exceptionally clean, especially for a place that's currently being remodeled. Breakfast was the usual motel kind. I've stayed at places with a Belgian waffle maker, and I wish this one had one too. As a tall person, I also found the mirrors and shower heads a bit low for my taste, lol.

Every employee I met was friendly, smiling, and helpful. I've stayed at several hotels around Wytheville, and this staff was the best I've experienced. I felt safe here with just my daughter, our cat, and me, and we'll definitely come back. We needed a pet-friendly place on a budget. The fee is only $25, much less than most, and cats are allowed. Our room showed some wear but was clean and quiet. The beds were very comfortable, the shower was very good, breakfast was decent, and the coffee was very good.
